Too sore in ribs and elbows to cope with exercise this morning.

MTB (Not O) 3:00:00 [2]

Riding in Forrest. Other than the stack at speed, it a pretty boring past time in my opinion.

Note

Thoughts on the carnival-
1. Really enjoyed the terrain. Fast sandy mallee most days. It rewarded Bendigo style navigation - red line stuff.
2. Thought Jamestown an good event centre given the isolation of the area.
3. Liked our visit and explore of Terowie. Pretty much a spruced up ghost town. Maldon without people.
4. Learnt there is more than one way to map erosion country, I prefer the Victorian way. Will get plenty of that in October!
5. Feet survived the experience of three days of running. Putting them on ice for an hour each evening before bed seemed to work wonders. They are sore today though after day three they were pretty good. Strange.
6. The courses left a lot of mapped terrain untouched. I am left wondering if anyone would ever dare set a course in terrain like the east of this map. The only features are small clearings... widely spaced with sparse bland contours. Evil stuff.

Real Orienteering race (Mulga Valley) 52:58 [4] *** 6.46 km (8:12 / km) +145m 7:22 / km
spiked:9/14c shoes: ASICs Kayano 21 Grey

Easter Day Three Mulga Valley.
More fast mallee spur gully, but with a very deep erosion gully at the end.
Bad-
Uncertain on early controls... a common feature of my weekend. Messy in the circle on 5,12,13, but not much lost. Did become confused going to 7, but luckily stumbled across 8 on theway so recovered a little returning there after 7. I lost 2.40 in errors in total, my worst day of the carnival. As well, i was quite tired towards the end. The lack of training really started to show. Twelfth place on the day.
Good-
Check out the red lining to control 3. I think I used a theodolite.
Like day 1, the times were again compressed,so though my placing was 12th, I only dropped overall one place to seventh. This exceeded my objectives for the carnival. I thought 8th was best possible and top ten would be good. Rationally I accepted that 15th was quite possible. So happy given the limited training.
