Note

State of affairs... too tired after all the goings on. Decided I couldn't face an orienteering event, even though I was certain it would be a good one. Too little sleep. Too much going on.

Real Orienteering race (One Tree Hill) 1:01:00 [3] 7.7 km (7:55 / km) +180m 7:06 / km
shoes: Salamon Speed Cross 4 Black

Event 35
I didn't intend to run course 1.
Intended to do course 3 due to lingering virus and tiredness. Picked up wrong map. Looked at it and told myself... well, you can do course 2, it won't kill you. Finished and was comparing courses with Julie before I realised it was course 1.
Ran it well though considering.

Real Orienteering race (The Pinnacle) 1:11:24 [3] *** 8.22 km (8:41 / km) +200m 7:45 / km
spiked:13/15c shoes: Grey Kayano

Bush event number 34.
The Pinnacle
Unexpected. Mid-week lunch time retiree orienteering in Canberra. The most interesting part of this event was what it tells us about the changing demographics of orienteering. And that you don't have to run every event to cater for every demographic.
Very frustrating format. Ascending order scatter, but with the ability to drop five controls. Most of my lost time was spent trying to find controls on the map. Oh... did I say self-timed, draw your course and punch controls. I think its easier to pre-print and use a school SI set.
Forgot to scan the map before throwing out. Wouldn't have made sense anyway. Convoluted!

Running 1:06:45 [3] 8.78 km (7:36 / km) +300m 6:30 / km
shoes: Grey Kayano

Mt Majura again. Managed to keep running the whole way, though I suspect a fast walker would have kept up with me on the steep bits.
