Real Orienteering race (Mt Tarrengower) 46:27 [4] *** 4.21 km (11:02 / km) +220m 8:45 / km
ahr:132 max:170 spiked:8/9c shoes: Salamon Sppedcross 4 blue V2

The last three weeks of Bendigo orienteering have been so different. Two weeks ago it was highly technical orienteering amongst the boulder at Mt Kooyoora. Last week it was flat and fast straight line orienteering at Peter The Great Gully. Run fast, straight, don't stop till you (hopefully) hit the control. Today it was steep country on the side of Mt Tarrengower. We had 225 metres climb on a 3.6 k course. The main skill required to to choose your route to minimise climb and execute your choice well. After a week without running, I was surprised at how well I orienteered today. One minor blemish at 5 where I dropped too early into a gully. Despite the steep hillsides, I quite enjoyed the experience.
Two interesting observations- one about attendance. Goo numbers- 75 or so. A third were Bendigo orienteers. A third were from Melbourne and environs. A third were part of a local primary school fund raiser.
And the Livelox comparison between Julie and myself was interesting. Someone contoured and someone went straight. One option was clearly better than the other.
