Well sort of real orienteering. Control stand checking for the Vic Long Champs. Time derived from the moving time on the garmin. Ran where i could the first five k but then accepted reality and walked. Pretty tired this evening, and a third of the controls to go tomorrow. Methinks this is the last time I agree to be adviser for a long championship event. Second year in a row for the Vic Champs Long. Time for some younger legs.

Tried to ride a circuit with Julie around north west Bendigo with two rules- no single track and no bitumen roads. Went through nine orienteering maps. Specimen Hill, Royal George, St Justs Point, New St Mungo, Prince of Wales, Morton Ridge, Fiddlers Green, Peter the Great, Perfumed Garden and Ironstone Hill. Also took in the Golden Square badlands, Jackass Flat Reserve (much of which is fenced off for calcine sand covering), Cal Gully Bushland Reserve and the Long Gully bike path. Three bitumen forays- at the start along Chum Street, a short section along the Kerang Rd, another short section near the psych centre. Will work out how to minimise these excursions. At least one looks like it can be eliminated. When I have a bit more aerobic fitness the plan is to continue along the bike path to the O'Keefe Trail, then Welsford, Wildflower, OTH, Crusoe, Dead Bullock, Brown Reef, Myers Creek and back along the Specimen Hill channel. One day... and judging by todays outcome, by myself.

Managed 40minutes for 6.5 k. Thats a milestone. Felt tight on calf towards the end indicating caution still required. Fitness. That has really plummeted. Looking like I might manage some of the carnival events for a bottom third placing with the occasional dnf. Prospect for the incomplete relay team again.
