Road Biking 1:59:50 [3] 30.01 mi (15.0 mph) +199m

The forecast changed from afternoon thunderstorms to partly cloudy with 15% chance of rain, so we threw the bikes on the car and headed to a good spot for pavement. It was beautiful out when we left, but once we got downtown it started to get pretty grey. Turned around and thought we might be the rain, but then about 10 miles from the car it started raining. We are pretty used to road biking in the rain, seems to happen to us half the time.

About 7 miles from the car I started having some eye problems - I think the rain washed salt from my sweat into my eyes, but it was really painful. stopped once to wipe my face, but it started happening again, and then next thing I knew I was face first on the pavement. I think I hit a small pylon mount. that I didn't see cuz of my eye pain. I landed mostly on my left side, and have pretty nice scrapes on my knee, elbow and palm. Worst part is it was in front of a huge line of cars waiting for a light, so a little pride damaging. A few were nice enough to ask if I was okay. A little dizzy and nauseous for a few minutes, but after a few minutes I was good enough to hop back on and finish the ride. No big harm done, but I did break my watch strap. I thought I heard something that sounded like glass breaking, but glasses, phone, etc were all fine. Bike seat was a little bent, but bike otherwise not too hurt.

What an adventure! Hobbling around a little bit, but I think after a few days of stiffness Ill be good as new.
