No north lines on a circle map. For the most part this went pretty well and much better than expected. Never saw the streamer at 5 but I knew I was in the right gully. Then made a big mistake on 9, not really sure what depression I ended up in but it was not right, but I was able to figure out where to go. Then made another big error on 12 and almost went in a Complete circle. Then I randomly recognized a hill from earlier in the training and was able to get back on track and finish.

I was really happy with my ability to relocate and to keep focused on the map for most of it. Really tough training but I can definitely understand how it helps you not rely on your compass so much.

Sprint relay with Syd.

Only four teams stuck around, and the rain was moving in, so the Vince Syd was to cut this short and only do 1 of the two loops. The course was a little green but still lots of fun. My legs had very little left in them and I face planted twice. I guess a 35 mile weekend will do that to you!

I want to thank SMOC for facilitating the training camp and Greg for designing it. Had a fantastic time over the 4 sessions and learned some things too!

First attempt at maze orienteering. Started off really wel but didn’t get a solid attack to 4 and got quite confused. I tried to attack off a rock pile that was not the one I thought it was. Eventually I figured that out and had to find somewhere to reattach from, which definitely Took me through at least one wall. I also got turned around leaving 5, but it got smoother again after that. This was a really fun way to complicate things and force focus

Ran to Syd's work to pick up the car.

For the first five miles I did Greg's most recent training exercise which was both devilishly evil and quite fun. map with blank control circles and a legend of control circles you had to match with the blank spots. Im guessing the fact that many of the circles had very similar sets of features was entirely on purpose... Ill be curious to see how i did. My biggest problem with these is the map disintegrates before I finish (from sweat). but I cant bag it because i need to write on it.

Made an 'emergency stop' around mile 12 and had trouble getting back into it, so the last 6 miles were a little rough. I also forgot to bring electrolytes so I was hurting pretty bad.
