Run on the trails at fairy stone state park before leaving for home. It was a beautiful sunny morning and we had the trails to ourselves. Legs are pretty beat.

We visited this park ~8 years ago to search for “fairy stones”. They are a unique mineral feature found only a few places in the world, where due the crystal structure and geothermal processes, the rock forms in a cross shape. We didn’t have time to search today, but I still geek out about it as a material scientist.

Made a pit stop on our way down to VA for early thanksgiving to do a short run on the Appalachian trail. We had to drive across it so it seemed a shame not to stop... it was grey and drizzling but mid 50s and overall a pretty nice run. Saw two people at the shelter but other than that had the trail to ourselves.
