Note

This time a year ago, I made a commitment to myself to exercise 6 hr/wk through the end of 2019, in order to achieve 365 hours for the year.

When 2020 rolled around, I decided to continue this goal for the year. I never expected I would have to do it without races to train for or events that tend to pad hours pretty quickly.

I am extremely proud of myself for keeping it up for an entire year (only 1 week missed, Dec 2019), and through the lack of races, weird schedule changes, etc that 2020 has brought. I think its going to be my MO moving forward, as it provides just that little extra push to bike a little farther, or get off the couch on that day that I really don't feel like it.

We usually head up to Frick to attempt some orienteering, but this is another park where it just isnt very fun, so focused on trail running today and checked out a few trails we hadnt been on before. Very busy park, and not easy to get to from home, but it was a nice change of pace. It was hot and my legs were dead until I hit the downhill, then they perked up a bit.

A new section of trail opened up in this direction so I went to check it out. It is about a mile off the side of a road instead of on the road. They have really made some great progress on the trail this year, very excited for the last couple links to be finished next year!

Finally a successful run at Mingo! Found a nice 5 mile loop that I would definitely do again.

Boyce Mayview zigzaggy loop. Added in a tempo mile at the end to try to get used to faster pace on trails. I'm thinking I'll sign up for 2 trail half marathons this fall, with a 2:11 goal, which will probably entirely depend on the elevation and technicality of the ones I pick.
