Memory O with syd. We traded controls so I did evens. Actually worked out pretty well and was a lot of fun. Called it early when we looked at a sea of laure between 7-8, and it wasn’t going to go away after that either. I think memory O, and trading, are both training techniques we should both use more and would benefit from

Hiked up to Boston mine and green pond. Clearly we weren’t getting enough foot travel in this week :p. A nice pretty gentle hike and the mine was pretty cool.

Orienteering 1:11:47 intensity: (8 @0) + (12:38 @1) + (22:47 @2) + (26:13 @3) + (10:01 @4) *** 2.54 mi (28:16 / mi) +234m 21:58 / mi

This was brutal both mentally and physically. It was meant to be a relay with some forking. Syd and I traded spots between the start and 5, but we both messed up 4 and the woods got treacherous after 5. I was about done, so I ended up just following her to the finish. Could not make heads nor tails of this map, idk if I was just beat or what.

Simplify course. A skill I continue to be terrible at it. O-range was about 10-15 m off which also killed my confidence. Ended up cutting it short and went 8-12-15-F. Had to save something for this afternoon

Orienteering 48:33 intensity: (22 @0) + (1:13 @1) + (12:01 @2) + (27:17 @3) + (7:40 @4) *** 2.49 mi (19:30 / mi) +137m 16:39 / mi

Rerun of 2010 team trials red course. The navigation actually went surprisingly well for me on this course, only 1 big mistake. Hesitated on the way to 12 when I couldn’t quite make sense of all the features.
I was on the right track. Took some time to convince myself. Other than that just didn’t have a lot of oomph, but that probably helped my Nav stay clean

Orienteering 1:05:48 intensity: (8:26 @2) + (35:15 @3) + (19:36 @4) + (2:31 @5) *** 4.24 mi (15:31 / mi) +238m 13:13 / mi
ahr:144 max:181 13c shoes: SpeedCross 4- Orange and Green

I started first. Greg passed me on the way to 2, so I tried to keep up with him, and was successful 2-4. Then I was totally beat and of course messed up 5 and went way low so took the walk of shame up the hill. I messed up the uphill leg to 8 as well and ended up way too far north, but was able to find my self. Slowed down and was deliberate after that and finished it out pretty well. Challenging but fun terrain, and I can see some improvement since the last time I was here, avoiding panicking when I get off course and relocating well.
