GNC Day 3 - Classic - 7.0 km (65 m)

Today's terrain was much flatter than yesterday. The woods were also more open. Made for a very fast course. Went quite well overall. I only had a couple of minor mistakes.

1 - Too much hesitation for how easy this leg was.
2 - Cut through the woods to get to a different trail. Might have been faster to just take the trail around?
6 - Got pushed a little west by some bushes as I was exiting the road. Landed in a group of ditches just west of the one that I wanted. I had a hard time seeing them under the line, so took a bit to figure it out.
14 - Very slightly overran the control.

I caught Greg G. at 15 and we were back and forth through the rest of the course. Fun to have someone to race. Very happy with the pace I was able to hold through this course. Nice to see my training paying off!

GNC Day 2 - Classic - 6.8 km (210 m)

Unique terrain for the course today. I enjoyed the combination of rocky ground and open forest. It was more physical than I was expecting. Started out well and then had a few bobbles toward the end.

2 - Minor detour to an unmapped knoll. I should have known it wasn't the correct one as it was too high on the hill.
10 - Ended up contouring around the hill instead of climbing. Corrected when I hit the ride.
11 - Went to the nearby rocky spur instead of the rocky reentrant.
13 - Saw a flag and ran toward it without looking at my compass. It wasn't my flag.

I didn't have any trouble adjusting to the 1:15 scale. Should have eaten a Gu at some point. May have helped prevent my errors later in the race. Another fun day in the woods!

GNC Day 1 - Middle - 4.2 km (115 m)

Pretty happy with my run today. Had a few minor mistakes/inefficiencies, but I think the threshold speed at which I start to make mistakes is increasing.

1 - Took the trail around. Poor choice upon comparison of splits.
8 - Hit the road farther E than I planned. Ran to a control that wasn't mine. Corrected, but a lot of hesitation to the flag.
10 - Planned to contour around the hill, but ended up way too low. Should have just gone straight.
14 - Took the trail. Again, should have gone straight.

Fun course and very nice weather.
