SWSW Day 2 - Box Canyon (10.5 km)
First time I've run a goat style event. Mass starts are always fun! Started off with a pack through 5. I then decided to skip 6 to save some climb (unsure if that was a good choice?). There were a couple other people who made the same decision. I then lost a few minutes on 9 when I went up the wrong spur and lost all of the time I had gained skipping 6 (plus more...). The rest of the first loop went well. I could see a few people ahead and behind me. Grabbed a new map at the S/F and headed out on the second loop. Took me a minute to process that the first control was all the way across the map! Decided to skip 14 so I could just run trails to 15. Nice break from running through grass. The rest of the loop went smoothly. Saw a few people here and there. Lots of short, thorny plants today. So I now have scratched up shins to match my scratched up thighs.

SWSW Day 1 - Catalina SP (6.2 km)
A good start to our week of orienteering! Weather was fantastic (70s and sunny). I was regretting not bringing water though, I’m not used to the warmth or the dryness. Had a fairly clean run. Lost a few minutes on 11 when I mistook a spur for the correct hilltop. I was surprised at how slow going it was in some places. Thought I was taking it easy, but my HR says otherwise! The last two weeks have been crazy so not that surprised.
