| Nice morning run on the north slope trail. The log over the river crossing was icy, and some parts of the trail were covered with ice pools and ice crystals that glittered in the sun.

| Chopped down a beautiful 25-foot tall Abies lasiocarpa tree in the back yard. Then cut the lower 13 feet into rounds for future firewood, and brought the top 12 feet into the living room for a Christmas Tree. It is really beautiful and fragrant, and has a nice straight trunk and full foliage. No worries... there are plenty more trees in the back yard.
Then I raked a trail in the backyard with a big switchback to practice mountain biking maneuvers.

| Morning intervals on the frost-covered Creekside Trail System. At the four-way intersection I made a navigation error and chose the wrong trail (I have made this same mistake before!). I started down the righthand trail, but changed my mind and went back to the middle trail. I knew it was probably wrong, but if the righthand trail was an error, I would end up at the road too soon (boring), whereas if the middle trail was wrong I would end up too high and eventually have to cross the creek. Better to end up higher, and then compensate.
Well of course my instinct was right and the middle trail was the wrong one, so when I reached the creek, instead of crossing it, I went cross-country through the dense forest (with downed logs scattered everywhere) and eventually found the lower trail. I hope to return here again in a few days and take closer looks at the various trail intersections.
