First skate of the season in very windy conditions and excellent snow. Climbed Palisade and had a good ski session. Will add climb stats after perusing the map. Okay, map has been perused.

Ski out to Lyell's Lookout and beyond, plus some climbing interval sessions. High winds and beauitful snow conditions. Last night the wind gauge near my house topped out at 110 mph. Checked the recording this afternoon, and it was 132 mph!

Wild Wednesday #1. The goal is to take off work early the first Wednesday of each month, and go climb to the top of something. Today I chose a climb to the summit of Mt. Weaver on my mountain bike, via a combination of single-track and double-track trails. The trails were great until about 8160', when I hit the snowline. Eventually the snow became too deep and icy to ride.

Wild Wednesday #1 continued. So I left my Stump Jumper in a snowbank and climbed up to the summit. There was about two inches of hard blue ice covered by about two inches of snow. The ice was very slippery so I kicked steps up to the top. It would have been nice to have my instep crampons! Had a nice lunch on the summit rocks with a beautiful view. Mt. Weaver high elevation 8425'.
