Orienteering (Mendon April 2005 Red) 1:56:00 [4] *** 10.0 km (11:36 / km)
spiked:17/18c

1PM start at 35 degrees. Light snow on the ground. Temperature dropped 5 degrees while we were out. Wore soccer cleats this week since it was so slippery last week. Cleats on wet wood were slick.

Found a second participant to run a course this week. I chose the Mendon April 2006 red course because it was mostly in the hilly, challenging 10K race loop. Mendon is a much more technical map, and the course was challenging, so it took a little while to ensure I was in the right place to hang a streamer for Eric to pick up. It was a good training exercise, but it took much longer than I expected. Eric caught up to me a few times as I was getting ready to hang a streamer, and we would compare notes regarding the specific location.

Totally blew it on control 14. That was the biggest mistake I've made in a very long time. I went into the woods off the trail way too early.

Orienteering (Mendon Map Hike) 45:00 [2] 2.0 mi (22:30 / mi)

Went back out to the last few controls to compare notes about where the control should have been.

Walking (Track Meet at Hobart) 5:00:00 [1]

Another long night at the track. We were there for 6 hours, and I was walking around for the vast majority of the time.

No time to do anything between work and the meet. Didn't rake the jumping pit this time since Forrest only did triple, and not long jump. He had a good night with the 4x200, 300, and triple jump. I have to start bringing a chair to these things....

Volleyball (PCC) 2:00:00 [2]

No local snow again...conditions at Byrncliff and HHS sound like they are deteriorating in the warm temperatures.

Running (PCC) 20:00 [3] 2.5 mi (8:00 / mi)
weight:138lbs shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 5

Ran in circles at the indoor track, weaving around all the New Year Resolution pedestrians.

Skate Skiing (Byrncliff) 2:00:00 [3] 12.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
weight:138lbs shoes: Salomon 9.1 Skate 1999?

I should log hours driven to ski. It's about twice as many hours as actual skiing for this year. The good thing is that there was carpool.

Got there around 5:30. The lit loop was in good shape. The trails across the road were not as good, but there were a few hills to get the heart rate up, and a few sticks to get the bodies on the ground. My headlamp died towards the end, and I caught stick and took a spill.

Inside of left knee was stiff, perhaps from the fall.
