Water temp 2.5 degrees, proper winter dip. First swim only out to diving boards snd back then warm up in sauna. 2nd attempt out almost to swim limit but devided to turn back a little early as first cold water swim for ages, didnt want to risk it....felt fantastic afterwards....

Started off with a nonsense tactic, ran to high pointed control that I was confident I could get quickly before properly looking at map and formulating plan. then ran up to the north end before realising that would be a good place to turn the map over.... also realised I was on a hiding to nothing trying to clear, so abandoned that area and ran back south. Covered way too much ground, watch stopped a couple of times, but even then hadn't visited my 4th control on about 28 minutes... from then on got better, and was much more sensible on odd side of map. I reckon the optimum route would have started with odds, cleared the south end of the map and then gone up to the north to swap over, come back and get as much as possible, ignoring the 2 furthest controls... brilliant fun though and woods were fantastic tonight.

Cold crisp night, nice running with Ifor, Clare and Pete. Some running up and down banks to add a tiny bit of distance and terrain running while others went straight on path. In reality didn't add that much. But was enjoyable.
