Marshfield recce with Sara, nice gentle run probably about right length if a little on short side depending on who turns up. Some easy possibilities to lengthen run if needs be... more importantly recced the Chicken Pie and the Ham Egg and Chips.... :)

Alice sent me out in 591st, climbed steadily through first radio control getting us up to 552nd. Feeling strong through drinks control and all the way to a tricky control in a re-entrant. Just missed but caught sight of cabin below and came back with two other guys on same control. Found lots of people milling around on the other side of the control and sent them back along our tracks to find it. Then the wheels came off a bit. Just dropped by the two guys, I headed up towards next split control a fairly direct route, aiming to hit track on top of the hill and bounce off that. WHY I didn't go to top of the hill and execute plan I still don't know. Ended up on same vague hillside wondering where I was, drifted until I found control 52... 6th leg runner punched it and he yelled "dot knoll" at me so I was able to relocate.. felt like I lost 20 mins but on GPS it was only a 7 minute max mistake, maybe not even that. Scrappy from here on in but no major losses or relocations, just slow and tentative. I did have us up to 537th, and lost 30 places here. Eventually brought is in 562nd gaining 29 places so not the total disaster it felt like at one point!

Still the most fun you can have in a forest with your trousers on!
