Orienteering (Long distance/explore) 1:25:36 [2] **** 11.8 km (7:15 / km) +388m 6:14 / km
shoes: Icebug Acceleritas4 (no2)

Decided to go with Gene and Jonty and have a better look at the area from Thursday. Was definitely promising for the future with excellent contours and amazingly no gorse and little green vegetation! Unfortunately the area had various stages of thinnings ranging from a small usable area to areas which had only just been done. But looked interested for use one day in a few years time...

Road Cycle (Commute to new map) 1:16:39 [2] 31.3 km (24.5 kph) +412m

Had a few days off to rest the achilles and foot arches and catch up on uni work. Decided to ride out to a new area of Riverhead which looked nice on the lidar, unfortunately it had been thinned and was still at least 2 years away from being usable.

Orienteering race (Multi-day mass start loop) 25:29 [2] **** 3.9 km (6:32 / km) +10m 6:27 / km
shoes: Icebug Acceleritas4 (no2)

Foolishly risked racing again, started off well reaching 3:20s on the road and sticking with the leading bunch however as soon as I was in a softer area.. boof my achilles tightened again. Decided to pull out and not risk something more serious after the first (and longest) loop.

Orienteering race (2 Middles) 1:29:13 [3] **** 12.8 km (6:58 / km) +50m 6:50 / km
shoes: Icebug Acceleritas4 (no2)

Struggled from early on in first middle with tight, sore lower calfs, think it was induced by the very soft ground coupled with unusually tired foot-archs worsening my pronation and thus damaging my achilles tendon hence the feeling of tightness. Felt without the pain I could have still pushed hard and my orienteering was unusually good (apart from my first mp in years because there were two controls within 20m!) (and i didnt check my numbers :( )
