Running hills (Mt eden) 21:00 [4] 4.8 km (4:22 / km) +227m 3:32 / km
shoes: Saucony Type A6

Hurt session today, back to mt eden. Running without a watch makes it hard to judge where I'm at but it hurt. I wasn't 100% there at the start and probably dipped too far below 8mins for where I'm at both reps. Oh well, had only planned on doing 2 anyway to ease back in

Running warm up/down (dece) 30:00 [1] 5.6 km (5:21 / km) +100m 4:55 / km
shoes: Saucony Type A6

15up, 15 down at a guess

Running (Morning) 20:00 [1] 3.5 km (5:43 / km) +100m 5:00 / km
shoes: Saucony Type A6

Running intervals (Track 8*1km) 28:02 [4] 8.0 km (3:30 / km)
shoes: Saucony Endorphin Racer

I'm back. Was meant to go up to 7 but felt great so ran the full sesh. Target was 3:34s with 60sec rests and I ran without a watch behind another guy for all bar the last 600 of the last one. Times were 3:33, 3:34, 3:34, 3:34, 3:33, 3:30, 3:29, 3:15. Was on track for a 3:26 on the last one then decided to try and drop the other guys on the last 600m. Pulled out a 70 last 400 but didnt quite get away! Felt great tonight :D Next week plan is for 45sec rests and I might try target of 3:30. Excited for aussie!

Running warm up/down 17:42 [1] 3.3 km (5:22 / km) +40m 5:03 / km
shoes: Saucony Type A6

Warm down less pathetic this week

Strength/Conditioning (barely) 15:00 [1]

Worlds shortest gym sesh, did some quick calf work and shoulders then stretching and loosening. This session is the toughest gym (after intervals) so I think I will just build it up slowly. Ironically these sessions have been the toughest part of my weeks this year so I'm going to be more cautious over the next few months in building them up slowly.

Note

Wanted to run today but I was sore, tired and spent the entire day at uni :( decided it was better not to squeeze a late run in and keep the body at 100%

Monday Aug 28 #

Running (To/from gym) 1:00:00 [1] 12.0 km (5:00 / km) +200m 4:37 / km
shoes: Saucony Type A6

Jog to and from the gym, skipped morning run and did this instead. Was like a monsoon going, had thought about cycling but was put off straight away

Strength/Conditioning (Gym) 50:00 [2]

Back in the gym. Did what I felt, calfs are definitely stronger, quads marginally better, core much better, arms weaker (no surprise there). Upper was much stronger which is very interesting. Definitely has been an increase in strength, and I am feeling very relaxed on the road now. Mileage is going to be key over the next 6 months, 100km weeks are the aim. Looking to get this week over 80km, my body feels excellent so fingers crossed!

Orienteering long (AOS Kelland Road) 1:37:55 [2] **** 13.5 km (7:15 / km) +491m 6:08 / km
shoes: Icebug Spirit 5 OLX

Windy asf. Got a bit bored of constant climbs into the wind and ended up jogging most of it. Unusually long AOS, would have been nice on a sunny calm day!

Saturday Aug 26 #

Running long (Riverhead+road) 1:57:59 [2] 21.2 km (5:34 / km) +580m 4:54 / km
shoes: Icebug Acceleritas4 (no3)

Nice chill long run, did the first 13k in riverhead with one of the track runners I train with then ran 8k back to lonely track. Felt like I could have easily run for another hour, felt great. Helped that I broke the track runner on the second hill and the next half of the run was very slow.
