Finally some orienteering! For y'all east-coasters, we've literally had one e-punch event here in the Bay Area since like... last March, and all we've had since then were a few streamered training courses, mainly because it's near impossible to get a permit over here. This one used a phone app for punching and "technically" we didn't have a permit, so anyone can just go separately anytime this month.

As for the course itself... it was pretty clean navigationally (not that navigation was a big deal here) and physically it didn't feel too bad. It was a relatively chill full-course-clear, and one that could easily have had 5-ish minutes shaved off if I hadn't been super careful around people (i.e. masks, distancing, detours, and trying not to offend someone by blatantly going off-trail right in front of them, since *technically* you're not supposed to go off-trail in this park... still managed to get some "da heck?" looks...).

It felt really good to get back into off-trail running, especially reliving the feeling of Neo-dodging through 50 meters of disgusting dark green only to get absolutely floored by some hidden barbed wire on the opposite side... Also, although wearing a mask non-stop for the first fifteen minutes (due to literally everyone in the Peninsula being crowded around the trails one kilometer from the parking lot) left me hella breathless, it was better than expected considering that I haven't been training regularly for a while. I do hope to change that, though, since I felt a bit weaker than usual when doing mid-speed running (sprints and long-distance endurance style running felt okay today).
