2-hour Nav-X at Wildcat Canyon/Tilden. There was a 2-sided map with one side being a 1:10,000 scale map of Tilden and the other a 1:15,000 map of Wildcat Canyon. I decided to go for Tilden and managed to clear it all, but I didn't have time to get an extra 30 pointer on the other side, which cost me 1st place. I was being extremely careful, however, since the drizzle, combined with sometimes knee-deep mud, created the ideal recipe for an injury. I felt really slow at the beginning, but after I got separated from the lead pack I formed a rhythm that I kept for the rest of the race. I made one mistake in terms of strategy, but other than that, most of the course was clean. Almost all of the controls were on/by trails, muddy trails mind you, so the navigation was relatively easy. I definitely felt some of my hill training pay off, but I really gotta work on my speed on flat/slight uphill grades.
