ORIENTEERING race (WOC Selection Long) 1:57:00 [5] **** 15.6 km (7:30 / km) +375m 6:42 / km
spiked:32/35c shoes: OLWAY Tigers

WOC Selection Long

A Long Race. Lovely Scottish Terrain with complex contours. It was easy to find the controls as they sort of jumped and waved at you as you were entering the circle. It wasn't tough, just tough to do well I think. To round it off for those of us who can navigate rather than run the last 5 km was basically a track/path run up a big hill and back down again. Joy. Nice start and middle to the courses with lots of changes of direction. I was good and made nearly no mistakes. Positive!!

RUNNING warm up/down (Warm Up) 30:00 [3]
shoes: OLWAY Tigers

Up a steel hill to warm up and stretch - to the start and round the field at the finish.

ORIENTEERING (WOC Selecion Sprint) 18:00 [5] ***** 3.5 km (5:09 / km)
shoes: Highlanders

Stirling Uni Campus was a nice place to run round.

Made a mess of 2 but loved the bit in the wood, If it'd been like that all the way i might have had a chance. Unfortunately it was a lot of path and open running, which I am not fit enough for at the moment.
Quick and lots of changes of direction. Caught up by JD who came 2nd overall, so not that bad.

RUNNING race (Ace Race Part 1) 48:00 [4] 9.0 km (5:20 / km) +100m 5:03 / km
shoes: Highlanders

Team planetFear entered the 1 Day ACE race series at Ashdown in the shape of Jane Forrest, Matt Dickinson and Jude Findlay.

Part 1: 9km Trail Run

BIKING race (Part 2: Bike O Course) 2:00:00 [4]
shoes: Hardrocks

Part 2: Bike O Course with Challenges on the way including blindfolded rope challenges, water hazards and tunnel runs.

RUNNING race (Stage 3: Orienteering) 1:00:00 [4] 11.0 km (5:27 / km)
shoes: Highlanders

Stage 3.

Very easy orienteering style course using a 25:000 OS map and huge circles looking for wooden stakes in the trees. Not easy. Got stuck in the largest storm in the world with rain as big as puddles, hail as big as peas and lovely lovely lightening.

BIKING (Bike O Score) 45:00 [4]
shoes: Highlanders

Stage 4: Bike O Orienteering. Lost tonnes of time looking for the stupid stakes in the ground with pin punches in the leaves and the circles for the controls were huge - basically the map was wet couldnt read it, it was raining and the placement of the things were poor.

RUNNING race (Grindleford Fell Race) 38:00 [5] 4.5 mi (8:27 / mi) +152m 7:39 / mi
shoes: Highlanders

Fell Race.

Felt a bit sick and had nothing in my legs - no energy.
Really nice course in the rain but no river crossings as it was very very high!! but would have helped if i knew where I was so i could have spurted to the finish. Shane beat me once again and is awesome downhill. Great race.

BIKING 20:00 [3] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

BIKING 15:00 [5] 2.0 mi (7:30 / mi) +90m 6:35 / mi

Back from work...

Beasted it completely - a bit silly as its bloody hot!!!
Awesome felt tired at the end... and my legs hurt from the fell race yesterday having been sat most of the day.

RUNNING race (Edale Farm Day Fell Race) 40:05 [5] 4.7 mi (8:32 / mi) +405m 6:44 / mi
ahr:171 max:193 slept:7.5 shoes: Highlanders

Felt ok I suppose after my week of celebrations with everyone... Managed to start and get out of the first gate in 3rd position to my surprise!!
Was then passed (i know its bad) by Janette McIver up to Ringing Rodger before settling into 10th place over the top towards Grindsbrook.
Managed to lose a place on the steep decent from Grindlow Knoll but caught another one back on the road through Edale to the Finish!
Probably my highest numerical result...possibly due to the LAMM and Jukola taking place this week and the next.
Phill 'the zebra' Winskill finished in the lead only 3 and a bit mins ahead!

10th - Awesome!

ORIENTEERING race 54:30 [4] **** 5.7 km (9:34 / km) +300m 7:34 / km
spiked:22/27c shoes: Highlanders

Beely SYO Event.

Wandered around with a hangover from my Birthday Weekend exploits and felt like crap.
Orienteered ok apart from a couple of mistakes where I was standing 1m away from the controls and couldn't see it.
This could have been because of my drunken blurry vision or just the fact that I was rubbish; the answer has not yet been determined.
Also tweaked my ankle - but then my coordination wasn't too hot either.
... and yes, that is 10 minute km's. oh dear!!
