Easy running with Speed Variations

Change to the plan due to lack of sleep and being very tired. Wife isn't well and shes been up all night and ive been helping her. Only had an hour or so sleep. Went out earlier than usual and fel tired form the off so decided to run easy but still do 8 x 30 seconds speed variations.

Norfmal winter loop, beehive, macron, a6 through westhoughton, chew moor lane, past train station onto Beaumont road, up the hill to chorley new road and all the way back home.

Legs felt tired today, felt good on yesterdays run but with little or no sleep ive not recovered very well.

Moderate running (Easy / moderate) 35:35 [3] 6.02 mi (5:55 / mi)
slept:7.0

Easy / Moderate

Ran as I felt and ignored the watch, just cruised round the usual winter short loop.

Hamstring felt a little stiff form the pyshio last night, but confirmed that the strain was due to really tight glutes. Hamstrings are al fine.

My stride felt much better this morning as though I could lift my knees a little easier than I have been able to for 3 weeks.

Morning route, beehive, Macron, A6, crown lane, crown and home.
6 PM

Moderate running (Moderate running ) 57:34 [3] 10.0 mi (5:45 / mi)

Moderate run

Chorley new road, crown, scholes bank, down to adlington, towards Fredricks and turned along A6 at lights to bridge and back the same way

Windy and raining hard. Wind was in my face all the ah hole up the hill. Felt good tonight and my stride is feeling great again.

4 x hill sprints was meant to be doing 6 but was being cautious with the hammy was feeling tight sprinting.

Moderate running (Moderate run) 54:04 [3] 9.0 mi (6:00 / mi)

Moderate morning run

Started off slightly slower at 6:15 pace as I felt slightly tired this AM (being strict with my diet at the moment, think its caught up with me hungry).

as the run went on the better I felt and was cruising round. Felt great on the last couple of miles but kept it controlled and relaxed as ever.

Hamstring was ok, felt it slightly in sections but not pain, just letting me know its still there, physio tonight so hopefully will get it sorted. Decided to book in every two weeks to keep this kind of stuff to a minimum a nd not disrupt my training.

I felt really down all weekend and felt like packing in, but my kids made me realise i'm doing well and its a set back and i'm highly motivated again.

Moderate running (easy / moderate) 36:44 [3] 6.0 mi (6:07 / mi)

Easy / moderate - Hamstring test

started off easy this morning and then slightly picked up the pace just to see how my hamstring is progressing and it felt ok, no discomfort, but can still feel slight aggravation from time to time.

Happy to be back running but feel unfit for some reason, hate having days off.

Route: - Beehive, macron, A6, crown lane, crown and home.
6 PM

Progression (Progression ) 44:37 [4] 8.0 mi (10.8 mph)

Short Progression

Started off easy and picked it up as I went, I went slightly shorter but faster. Can still feel a slight niggle, no real pain just feel a slight tight ish feeling. Much better over the last day or so with self massage and ice and heat therapy and lots of stretching. Miles 3 slightly down hill but still have to run a decent pace can't free roll. Rubbish weather, raining hard and pretty windy for the fast parts of the run.

3: 5:50
4: 5:35
5: 5:23
6: 5:20
7: 5:14
8 : 5:03

Picked it up nicely and legs felt ok, still feel
Unfit for some reason, felt controlled running at all the paces even the 5:04. Especially happy with the last mile as there was a climb over the canal
Bridge and up to the main road finishing with a straight 400m.

Still niggling hamstring but nothing like it was and seems to be getting better as the days go by. Tonight was more of a test to see how it reacted. Slightly different to my plan, but it's been depressing getting this strain right before Telford when I've been running well. Tonight has restored a little confidence.
7 PM

Cool down (Easy cool down) 25:50 [3] 4.0 mi (6:28 / mi)

Easy cool down

Ran from fredericks junction, up the top road through adlington, millstone, scholes bank, crown and home.

Feel the hamstring slightly but nothing major, plenty of stretching after.

Easy running (Easy running) 52:35 [3] 8.0 mi (6:34 / mi)

Easy running

Beehive, back roads of middlebrook, motorway, A6, Crown Lane, Crown, past home and to the co-op and back.

Kept running easy so to aggravate the hammy, felt much better today, hardly felt anything apart from any incline, that wasn't painful, just letting me know its there, but much much better.

Picked up the last mile to 6:00 minute miling and it felt ok, could feel something but not pain.

Sunday Dec 11, 2016 #

Unspecified (Cross training) 1:00:00 [3] 5.5 mi (10:55 / mi)
ahr:165

Cross Training

Cross trainer in the gym for 45 mins - worked hard at 165 average heart rate which is equivalent to a good high paced tempo.

Finished off with 2 miles at 6:30 pace on treadmill to test the hamstring out.

Felt ok, not real issues, but kept it easy.
