run: track 42:47 [4] 9.59 km (4:28 / km)
slept:6.5

activation, 19min wu, active wu, strides in spikes
@ 800 effort:
S1: 200, 2min rec, 600, 3min rec, 250
29min set rest
S2: 600, 3min rec, 300
18min cd

30.7, 1:36.6, 38.4
1:37.4, 46.3

this was dece! big group today. waterfall start for everything except we rolled into the 600's. everything felt really smooth and strong. walked away from the first set feeling pretty good, the 29min set rest felt a little excessive. otherwise nothing interesting to report really, feeling fit and happy about this session! first metatarsal head on the left foot (same spot as before) got a little irritated during the last 300, it wasn't happy about the spikes. fine to walk on and run in fluffy trainers.

this was decent. was feeling a bit stiff from yesterday weirdly enough. medball stuff was fun. hit up some trails so some parts were a bit slippery but i was enjoying myself.

run: tempo (tempo + 200's) 55:29 [2] 12.37 km (4:29 / km)

2x5min @ tempo, 1min rec
4x200m FFF (in trainers), 200m jog rec
16min cd back home

it was nice to have an easy session today. i was feeling some kind of tired. nicole and i were kind of rippin the tempo though, it actually was feeling really good. it wasn't CRAZY fast, but still really good quality. didn't go nuts on the 200's but i didn't do much last week so i wanted a chance to get the legs moving.

Sunday Feb 12, 2017 #

run: race (UW indoor 800m) 56:35 [5] 11.29 km (5:01 / km)
slept:8.0

activation, 20min wu, dynamic wu, strides in spikes
800m - 2:13.05, indoor pb, 1st in "fast" heat
16:30 cd, + 17:45 w/ NS after her 1000

waah!!! this was stupid! i didn't go in mentally prepared to have to time trial a fast race. i went in with the expectation that i would have a solid race to get my elbows dirty. i was the slowest seed in my heat, everyone else was 2:10-2:11. my goal was to just race to win and hopefully snag a good time out of it. well we ended up going through 400 in 66 (edit: 67 from vid footage) :| it was harder to gauge where i was at on the 300m track but i think the first 150m or so was totally fine, and then it started to feel a little too comfortable and i was moving up through the field but in retrospect i wish i had gone with my instincts and just got going sooner. after hearing that horrifying 400m split i took the lead and just desperately wanted people to RACE MEE. i honestly wasn't pushing as hard as i could go in that last lap, and coming in to the home straight i felt like i had 3 more gears. someone finally started to challenge off my shoulder but i could have had friggin lesley koopman kicking me down and it wouldn't have happened.

some positives: this was the easiest 2:13 ever, i didn't tie up at all. i wish i had a quality 1000m to look forward to this season, because if i open with a nice even 800 like this i seriously feel like i can crush a good k in the right race. also, dempsey is dope and as a huge fan of the sport i was just loving life this whole weekend. was great to see other kids on the team crush their races.
