9 AM

run: rec (shake out) 12:14 [1] 2.25 km (5:26 / km)

since i didn't run friday i did a short shake out sat am. felt pretty crappy, mostly heavy/fatigued and a little clogged up still
2 PM

run: race 54:10 [3] 11.6 km (4:40 / km)

activation, 20min wu, competition wu
GBO 1500m - ?3:06/7 thru 1k, DNF after 1.1k
30min cd

yea this sucked. a billion excuses to explain away why i was feeling crappy physically. but also mentally it was probably over before it started. racing isn't necessarily my favourite part of the sport; i more enjoy hitting phat workouts and using racing as a way to showcase my fitness. absolutely hate toeing the line feeling underprepared and i think i'm someone who can lose that race specific sharpness pretty quickly. luckily i can get it back pretty quickly as long as i'm fit, so i'll just need to use that as motivation to get me through the next 6 weeks. it really hit home this weekend that my indoor season is OVER! haha, kind of sad. indoor is just so damn fun and all my pb's are still soo weak, and god i might never get another indoor season again??

Tuesday Jan 16, 2018 #

run: track 42:10 [2] 6.0 km (7:02 / km)

12min YOG wu (lol), dynamic wu (couple extra strides)
5x250m in trainers on rectangle track, ON 90 seconds (~45s rec)
26min cd

43.0, 43.2, 43.1, 43.9, 45.3

this was MEH haha. still wasn't feeling 100%, like not sick sick but not quite right. throat was better but i could just tell when i started jogging, the heart rate felt way too high and the breathing was a little raspy. if i was planning on getting a real session in i would have done a proper warm up run. the GP peeps were doing 14x250 so i figured i would do a few for the sake of getting the legs moving but would shut er down once it started to go downhill. they had a couple boys hitting 34-35 so it was actually pretty nice to just chug along behind them. we were in outer lanes and cut the corners and added a bit of extra distance at the end, getting around the turns actually felt pretty manageable.

the plan for the next couple days is to rest, take it easy, maybe do some pick ups or strides or a longer race-prep type thing thursday depending how i'm feeling, and shake out friday. GBO 1500 field looks decent!
