Running- Road 25:00 [2] 5.5 km (4:33 / km)
shoes: NewBalance 770v5

Getting back late from school so runs starting to be in the dark which can be difficult as my area is still in the dark ages so nowhere I run has street light or any light. Just a chug

Orienteering race (JHIS Relay) 31:07 [5]
shoes: IceBugs- pair 1

Really pumped for the relay especially being on first leg. 6/16 4.8km

Start line consisted of zooming in and out of the English to physch them out but it didn't really work. On 3 the Welsh boys went and banter started. The Scottish and English just lead out into the field after pushing them back and went into two main gaffles coming in together to punch the odd control. The fred, Jake and AT gaffle was pretty solid with there navigation and speed so it was tricky for us to keep up. Going well until a control on the far side of a hill threw us and we bananad round to go into it. By that time fred's group had got away and our gaffle was lagging but still moving fast and going well. All of gaffle together until everyone but pedley and finlay thought we had the same control and could see it so did an unnecessary hill to find the wrong control; luckily mine was in a depression just below. From that Finlay and Pedley had gotten away and i finished the course alone just ahead of Finn. Fred, Jake and AT had already finished. Good stuff Scotland.

Orienteering race (JHIS Individual) 41:24 [5]
shoes: IceBugs- pair 1

Really hyped for first JHIS. Legendary speech from Sasha previous night and some tips for the Irish sand dunes. 5.6km 8/16 - No gps

Race was pretty horrific right from the start. Jumped straight over the top of my first control and stood to look around and take a minute/2 run around before actually punching it. Biggest mistake was 2nd control. Leaving control 1 well but having no real plan or idea of what I was going to do or see coming to it. Ended up running past it seeing Wendy taking pictures right next to it. Had a good 4/5 minute panic run in and around the control circle re-visiting places I had gone to over and over. Rest of course was reasonable but took some wrong decisions mainly going into the control circle to just miss controls leaving about 3 or 4 minutes of mistakes for them.

rajjjin but everyone else did really well especially the other 16s!
