School ttt
3rd in a time of 21.44 exactly. 3rd behind ags and st kents.
rode well and it didnt feel that hard but legs were really flat. we were going as fast as in the fast but didnt feel as good. killed it over the last 500m, double lap with brad

Auckland 1000 road race at ramarama. Rode b grade. did very little work for the first two laps. worked hard lap 3 and even had a go at jumping. lap 4 was a case of marking alex cull. pleased with my 9th place. A bit frustrating to be on restricted gears. handled nutrition well and held my position in the bunch much better than i did at north islands.
legs felt great

Ride at riverhead with brad, andy and will.
had to cane it to get over to wills place in time, it is a good 40mins not the 30 i thort. Good up tempo ride over there. once we got going tempo was a bit slower but still good, especially on the climbs. worked on flowing down trails. natives track and gordies were in mint condition!

hill reps in the waitakeres. went up and down the hills around bethels and the bethels turnoff. legs felt good and after the first couple i found it easy to find a good tempo. concentrated on climbing seated at about 70 75 rpm and keepin the hr over 175ish. legs felt good the whole time. rode home via redhills road and kumeu. sorta blew a bit after 2.45 but had some food and felt better. so stoked that it was sunny for a change

ttt at bayswater. didnt ride up north head or mt vic. hard session, lapped out for ages round the bayswater loop. gordon and scott were riding with us and making us work hard.

night ride at woodhill with jafakids. Brian and I took the jets. went out to python. did some easy accelerations. Light went flat at the end so it got pretty dodgy. legs felt good, oppourtunity to spin out after this morning.

rode up the bays with school. Scott made us attack from the back of the bunch and we had to turn around when we got a gap. Brad snapped a cleat so it wasnt pushed too hard, concentrated on tempo climbing at a higher cadence than usual on the road.

really fun race
started from the back with jono to try and get some practise at ridin thru ppl. got mud in my eyes at the start of tickler so had to stop. caught up to mike and matt dewes up back climb. SNAPPED CHAIN. damn it. took ages to fix and i had to wait for tools. got going and chased hard. was able to concentrate on flow and nutrition. rode with darryl for ages. cramped really badly coming back up pig track.
on the whole a good race, rode at a good tempo, really pleased with my nutirtion

rode 3 laps of the track plus some practise on the tricky sections. did a lap with clinton and got some advice fro the euros, use your elbows! haha

legs felt good on second lap
course is so fun now, just hit all of it with speed and yur sweet!

Last night was quite possibly the best tour stage I have ever watched! Go sastre peirero and csc!! So glad that Landis dropped. Ride was good, felt especially good, watchin awesome racin is so motivating.
rode home from town via a city loop then up through titirangi. went out via pack n save on lincoln road. good ride, stayed dry!

rode the bays. attacked hard down into mairangi bay then up out of mairangi bay, only brad came wit me. we both attacked hard all the way up b4 turning around. after we gt back to school rode around the lake just for some more miles.

road ride after oing. headed out to kkk from rimmer road then around to albany and back down ridge road. solid ride, legs got into it as the ride progresed. needed a bit of mental persuasion to get going, training always suks after mates go back to hb. remember how good it feels after a good training ride.

spiked:12/16c shoes: vj twisters
fairly good run.
sorta lost interest after the first few controls so made a bit of a mistake heading up into the weird cliff system thats just up from the green block. sorta got confused and lost a bit of time. nailed the last 7 controls.
legs felt reso good.

average run, didnt really get pushed, all the guys infront self destructed and andrw and jack wer way too far down to even get close. was 40 sec down on si and a minute up on jourdan who was 3rd fastest. 2 screws ups, one worth 30sec
didnt really make up for yeasterday but felt a bit better.
was feeling crap when i got home and fully not in the mood for training so flagged on the planned road session. tired from last nite

I am a retard, i screwed up number 1 as i always do when i presure myself. I need to stop worrying about going fast and focus on orienteering. Think about the actual skills i need, not just imagine nailing controls. for next big event PRACTISE LIKELY ROUTE CHOICES AND MAKE SURE THAT I DO NOT GET PUT OF WHEN THE MAP LOOKS A BIT DIFFERENT FROM WHAT I EXPECT!
4th, behind si jack and andrew. frustrated at myself. On the positive note i nailed everyone by 2mins on the route choice leg after the spectator.
remember that at the moment I am focusing on mountain biking, dont think too much about this next time.

ride up to bethels road in waitaks. did slow cadence reps and some higher cadence reps later on the flats. went hard through kumeu getting onto the draughts of trucks. enjoyed the ride, mainly because it wasnt raining.

mtb at woodhill with mark. looped pretty much the whole park. feeling good, pushed nice big gears the whole time. flowing really well. was in the mood for jumping

easy training run with mark out at woodhill. cruised through low vis controls on pot luck. was going slowly so spiked pretty much everything.
mind got back into o realy quickly, was 'feeling' the detail real easy

waitaks ride from kumeu. out to bethels, sceni drive to titirangi, back via scenic drive then out to swanson and then out to lincoln road, triangle road, sh16 kumeu.
good ride, dryer than last time. felt strong up long climbs. felt great after bout 3 hours, flew up triangle road.
knee was a ok.

another long HBG ride in the waitaks. legs feeling surprisingly good. rode from cyco via blockhouse bay green bay titirangi huia transmitter tower x2 and home via catfood factory kumeu waimauku.
wet and cold ride. went very slow down out of waitaks for two reasons. a) my fingers had stopped working and i could not feel my hands b) my back brake ran out of pads.
apart from the frezing cold and pouring rain was good fun. even enjoyed the second rep up the long climb to the transmitter tower.
really bad headwing pretty much the whole way home. was burying it near the end and only managing 26kph, the wind was that bad

led the jafakids ride. pretty slow but made sure that i did the reps aswell. good recovery ride from yesterday. incorporating some intervals worked well. legs recovered well during the session.

HBG in waitaks. started from newmarket, then out thru mt albert, avondale, titirangi, huia turnoff then along scenic drive, dwn west coast road, back to scenic drive out thru swanson, ranui, lincoln road, triangle road, redhills road, sh16.
good ride, pretty tired by the end, was raining and cloudy the whole time. punctured after about an hour coming out of huia. legs felt pretty good but did get a bit bored of the road

AR ride around town. newmarket down to waterfront, out to mt wellington, one tree hill, greenlane and back to newmarket. also rode to and from cyco. good ride, prefer u17 gears for this sort of ride, they give closer gear ratios

finished in main bunch sprint.
had a go at jumping about 5km in. stayed away for about 5mins. didnt really want to be out on such a flat course. need more experience of racing before i will get better. sprint was ok, was a bit cautious in the bunch though. beat jono in the sprint. legs felt good the whole time and easily sat in, did some work on the front, especially in the last 10km

Saturday Jul 1

team time trial race (north island ttt) 23:05 [5]15.6 km (1:29 / km)

ttt at north island
4th place, 14sec behind st kents a and 44 sec behind grammar A who won.
went out very fast, pulled some nice long laps, legs got pretty tired just after turnaround. tom dropped at about 10km, then had to ease for andy. I drove the team home for the final 2km on the front, knackered but really enjoyed the ride

warm up for ttt with scott. legs feeling pretty good, practised using echelons in the weird crosswinds that we had.
