road ride homw from uni via waitaks. came down to swanson then up to the catfood place and back through kumeu. itb on left leg is playing up like it did before mtb worlds. spent basically the whole ride concentrating on my left pedal stroke, to stop my heel kicking out on the upstrake. semi succesful. just gotta friction it now and do the strength stuff. hopefully gone by friday

ride at woodhill. really should have been studying as i managed to piss around all morning doing nothing. rode big loop of bikepark. that place bores me, so went and rode down to pot luck which i find better despite it being mainly flat straight gravel roads. then realised i had lost my drink bottle somewhere, and i wanted a drink so i backtracked for about 40 min til i found it then back to carpark. really wasnt feeling the tracks ay. roads were way funnerer.

mtb after some morning study. had a 2pm exam so had to keep ride short. up fireroad to carters, then down to link turned around down by long bush cos i saw forest patrol, luckily before they saw me. not sure if im supposed to be in there and there usually dicks. rode back up past the top of strip then pattersons, bottom tracks then home along aririmu valley. was sunny and not too windy, all g.

rode home from town. feeling real tired and crap. had first exam this morning so thats probably why. motorpaced through kumeu behind a van, would have made it through to the top of huapai, but a car pulled out so i had to brake pretty hard and to no hit him and lost all my speed. also had to stop a couple of times near the start to adjust the cleats on my shoes. a mm can make such a huge difference.

had a leppin at like 1.10, checking that my body doesnt mind them. looks like i will be leppining it out at classics now.

run down at muriwai in the evening. did an old course on the muriwai map. focussed on reading detail into the control, worked pretty good. after the course ran up to area 51 and back to the car at the carpark

1st open men

pretty mint race, rode to my plan of attacking the others before the first singletrack then trying to open up a gap. worked perfectly, pulled like 4mins on the first lap and a little more on the second. cramped a bit on the last lap but that is down to having done no speed work. pretty stoked to win. leigh was 2nd then brad tilby with jacob the dane in 4th.

2nd in m21. 10sec behind bryn and 2sec ahead of darren. pretty good run, dropped some time 17-18 through hestitation that i shouldnt have, plus was pretty loose from 9 - 15. felt the slowness in my legs, couldnt open up properly in the easy bits. pretty happy, and shins good

run on parts of courses from akl champs. feeling pretty good, ankle much better, still a wee bit dodge though. made sure i didnt let myself leave a still unless i was sure id nailed it and retrace and repeat if i stuffed up. was oing reso good. shins are profoundly better, maybe the neurolink stuff does work?

lsd ride with mark. from his place up to kaipara flats via wechs access then up kaipara hills, down to sh16 then back along highway to west coast road then back over wechs access and burnside. minta ride, thought it was way shorter than 3 hours, was having fun. legs feeling mint climbing too

rode home from sprint event. was going o go to titirangi but was a little late so went new lynn, henderson, swanson, waitakere, back way to foster road and then home. legs felt ok, a little tired but so is the rest of me.

sprint o at western park. legs felt weird running at speed again but wasnt too slow. ankle was average despite being taped which slowed me down on the transverse hill running. navigation was pretty good, little 5-10sec errors all over the place but nothing big. Except mispunching, went to number 8 but pulled my ident out too fast. annoyed but not too anoyed. I had done 13.24, mark was first but would have been second in 14.40 with a pretty good run. happy with that.

road ride back from town. went up to titirangi then scenic drive, bethels, taupaki, allely house, kumeu, home. legs felt shit to start but got mint in the waitaks, climbing really well and strength is coming along. gluteals a wee bit tight. sunny, cant wait til 31st i will go for like 4 hour rides in the sun with no study yay

mtb at riverhead. rode from home ans saw leigh just as i was going into the forest. He was with Jacob, a danish guy who is down here for 6months and i pretty good mountain biker. had a mean chat with him but we kept the pace high. couple of loops around riverhead. poured with rain for a bit and really strong wind. but mint as, legs not quite good for the tempo stuff, but power is there sort of. did 2x PS on the way home
