hardest day of orienteering ever. thick as bush and ruthless climbs. took some dumb route choices in the middle of the course which made navigation hard and wasted energy, dont always have to go straight. got lazy at the end cos i was tired. navigated well off the start

Saturday Sep 30

orienteering race (WA champs day 1) 39:36 [5]**** 6.1 km (6:30 / km) +190m 5:37 / km
spiked:8/12c shoes: vj twisters
WA state champs day 1

I was a bit rusty at the start, got pushed around by the vegetation a bit. toph showed up on the way to 4. I tried to get away and did on the way to 5 before he caught again. dropped him heading to 10 then screwed 11. still trying to get into rock mapping. need to remember the difference between clusters and individual boulders and also read control descriptions!
