Sunday Feb 11

mountain bike race (National series rd 3) 1:36:31 [5]

NZCT national series round 3
2nd under 19 men
race at the redwoods in rotorua. had a pretty horendous start. bad call up because i havent done any of the other series races. missed my pedal so was almost last at the base of the first climb. went nuts up the hill and got to 3rd by the top. (it was a 400m tarseal climb,not too steep, almost big ring). Unfortunately ash attackdd and got a gap. tried to bridge but legs were too had it. settled into a tempo with jordan and wade. attacked them on lap 3 and a got a gap. chased hard to try get ash but he had a mean race so finished up 1min08 down at the finish. felt really strong for almost the whole race. felt worst on the tarseal climb. seatpost slipped about 12mm during the race. apart from that bike was perfect

warm up- rode for just under 30mins. went out towards the airport on the road. did 3 PS in quite big gears. legs took quite a while to get going and took quite a while to get the HR up.
warm down - cruisy ride with wade george and mark to spin out

mainly stretching out the legs also did calf strengthening stuff

Saturday Feb 10

roe 2 laps of the course with clint and eric and and mark langlands and jono and wade. couldnt get the HR up at the start but got into it eventually. I was spinning up the hills. did 2 PS aswel. course was mint as, real flowy course usual rotorua. mint as descent down marzocchi and avenir.

practising sections, cruisy as. waiting while mark was recovering and looking for his glasses when he crashed in marzoochi. also practised exit trail a 3rd time

Friday Feb 9

rode from work to cyco then to the ferry. gt the kea to devo then went up to northcross and home via ridge road and riverhead. legs feeling pretty damn average and couldnt get the hr up high. tried to take it easy felt like my legs were just lacking energy.

Thursday Feb 8

road ride from home out to glendowie than back to tank farm via waterfront. warm up then cyco crit which was 37.45 with an average HR of 173, abit lower than usual, did some work on the front but legs not feeling at their best. just lacking the speed. felt resonably good though. not as hard as some weeks. then rode to western springs, felt strong up the hill into ponsonby

Wednesday Feb 7

rode from home up to parakai via old north road. took it cruisy focusing on high cadence and spinning out the legs, which feel remarkably good after the wekend. lateral side of calves a bit tight and knotted and hams and quads a little tight. need to do a good stretching session tommorow. had physio this arvo, shins feeling heaps better

Tuesday Feb 6

first today by about 4 mins from riki then duncan and sam. legs feeling prety good today, but felt the mud late in the course. shins still all good, blisters pretty bad especially left foot. orthotics have helped heaps. mistakes were mainly small little errors, no big blowouts. overall pleased with run today

Monday Feb 5

sprint o at spa park
last race of the day
1st m20 by over a minute and 3rd in m21e, behind ross and tero.
legs felt good especially up the hills. error free run except for tripping myself up on a log
orienteering race 25:48 [5]
shoes: Inov8 flyroc 310
Superseries relay.
ran first leg in a team with tineke and sam.
ran the first loop real well and was 3rd through the spectator. then stuffed 9 and 11 and ended up coming back about 10th. legs feeling good, no probs with shins!

chasing start race at waihora in the tricky marshy stuff. started about a minute after sam just ahead of riki and andrew, like 5 seconds. same loops as andrw, ran together on first loop, got away on the second one, caught sam after second pivot, but took dumb route choice through a marsh so ended up behind him overall. still did fastest of the m20s today
run warm up/down 35:00 [3]
warm up and down for the various events, mainly warming up though
