Rockclimbing 1:00:00 [3]

9 Degrees session with Bayu. Lots of fun as usual. Climbed 2 new tough reds , got close on a third and also finished off the remaining pinks that I hadn't done. Wish I could boulder everyday.

Running 25:02 [3] 5.9 km (4:15 / km)

Run down to Queens park. Took it easyish for the start because I was still testing my knee. Picked up a bit throughout the run but also tried not to overdo it.

Knee is better but still not perfect - doesn't hurt but just doesn't feel quite right. Try again tomorrow but still try not to overdo it.

Rockclimbing 1:30:00 [3]

9 Degrees session. New pinks and reds up! Didn't try many of the reds but got most of the pinks. Left a few for later ;) Lots of fun as usual. Generally feeling pretty good but the skin on my hands was the limiting factor that caused me to stop. Probably resulting from 2 outdoor sessions this week already. Also thought I'd better not push it too hard with the volume of arms I've been doing recently. I would have gone for a run but my knee was still sore. I got some light (or actually reasonably heavy because I decided to push) leg work in on the bike too and from the gym. Hopefully tomorrow the knee is feeling good to run again. Need to get training for the big distances I want to do in NZ over the summer.

Note

Walked to uni with a 20kg pack and my knee was still sore so decided not to run today. Hopefully better soon or I'll go to the physio.

Running 1:30:00 [3] 10.0 km (9:00 / km)

Finally completed the missing piece of my eastern suburbs sea level traverse!!! Super gnarly and an absolute tonne of fun! I hadn't planned it. I was just going for a run around the south of coogee coast and noticed that the tide was super low and the water was really calm so I took the opportunity.

It was still by no means easy! Started off with the cave that I've always stopped at before. Passed it no worries with the right timing. Then a blank face which looked like it might have been over before it had even begun but I managed to find some holds on the roof and then had to crimp on some barnacles with sketchy footwork to finish. Then came the first no feet high ball which from memory was a bit slopey. Then there was a stretch of running before another blank face with a small shelf some 4 or 5m up. I took the shelf but at it's thinnest it was only 1ft high and maybe 3ft wide so literally had to squeeze through on my stomach still 5m above the water. Some more running and another cave before the second no feet high ball which led to another blank face. A really dodgy foothold on barnacles coupled with a mossy sloper and a far reach made it passable but definitely didn't feel secure, especially with rock in the water right below. This led to the last cave which once passed popped you right out at the maroubra north baths!

So stoked to have finally completed this section of the coast. Well worth the wait.

Running 6:00 [3] 1.0 km (6:00 / km)

Jog to see how my knee was feeling, and suss out whether I could play touch. It wasn't feeling good so I decided I should give it a miss.

Strength 20:00 [3]

Strength session - Pushup and pull up intervals.

10 slow pushups, 5 fully extended pull ups, alternating minutes with rest between.

100 pushups and 50 pull ups in total. Pretty pumped at the end.

Good sessions with the right amount of recovery to maintain it just to the end. Will definitely do again soon.

Rockclimbing 3:00:00 [3]

Dam Cliffs with the Canberra Scholars.

Set up Jug City for people to play on (12).

Went and led Over the river (14) which was probably the longest route I've ever done at Dam Cliffs (bar the deep water solo).

Set up the corner round from jug city (14) for another play.

Went round and cleaned Over the river.

Had lunch and went for a swim then did the deep water solo (18) via the line of least resistance (which ended up being a big traverse at about 7m).

Finished up leading Sisters of Fatima (16) for the others and then cleaned it at the end.

7 climbs all up, and most quite easy. So not at all a strenuous day (except maybe the dws). Heaps of fun though!!
