Run race (Howey Creek) 35:00 [4] * 8.1 km (4:19 / km) +90m 4:06 / km
shoes: Mizuno flats

Didn't think there'd be any competition, but Lebbink showed up to make a brief return to competitive orienteering.

ran out at a nice pace, then Lebbink took a shortcut across the creek, and I decided if I wanted to keep up with him I would have to as well, but I went a bit further down where I could make the jump. jumped a 7 foot fence and then ran past number 5. Could see him about 100 - 200m ahead through the next few checkpoints, was flying so had to push it. eventually caught Lebbink again at 19 where he had decided to try and cut through the creek reserve, but found it a bit thick. Blasted out ahead of him through 7, 10 and 8, and then dropped him on the hill up to 18. then nice run back down the hill through the last checkpoints.
my first win this summer!!

next week they promise a colour map. pity about the clash.

Run race (waterford green) 30:00 [4] * 6.4 km (4:41 / km)
shoes: Mizuno flats

was originally intending to take today easy and run course B, but when we got to the event, discovered that A course was a one hour score on a 1:5000 street map with 20 checkpoints. so some rough mental calculation made me realise the most I'd be running would be maybe 40 minutes at slow.

so bit the bullet and entered A.
got them all in 30 minutes. Beat Bryan and Paul this week, but the birdman and both ted VG and Chris Norwood beat me on route choice.

some dog checkpoints. will post the map after dinner.

Orienteering race (Korong) 40:00 [3] ****
shoes: Mizuno flats

Ran men's elite course from easter.
Mortenneve and jymbo put out the tapes.
started first off, was caught at about the 3rd by Toph (2 minutes behind?) when I couldn't find the right boulder, lost him later in the race when he dropped off.
Then KeELy came in. L-Train cut sick and went home early. harden the F$%k up.

Had trouble finiding the last control amongst the scrub. Uncle Jymbo gave me a beration.

Orienteering (Kooyoora) 20:00 [3] ***** 2.8 km (7:09 / km)
shoes: Mizuno flats

Putting out tapes with jymbo.
some pretty shoddy navigating going on. then uncle jim decided to run 'the cross country route' instead of taking the handrail gully all the way in.

more importantly. won the sprint back to the car (/watermelon).

Note

felt really fit today. didnt feel tired and the sun didn't get to me like it usually does. The sleep in till midday, get up and go for a run lifestyle obviously has its benefits.

If anyone is interested, I am planning on going to the you yangs for training on any of the following days: 14th Thursday, 15th Friday, and the weekend of 16th/17th.
If anyone else is interested, what would be the best day(s) for this?
