Road Running warm up/down 38:00 [2] 8.0 km (4:45 / km) +30m 4:40 / km

Long warm up from the hotel then more running on the course. Long cool down after with Hannah going to the hotel then having to run back for the prizes. Pretty cool and damp weather.

Road Running race 1:04:40 [5] 21.1 km (3:04 / km) +50m 3:02 / km

Getafe half marathon. First half in a group and slightly downhill, pretty comfortable effort. After that it picked up and I had to work harder to stay with the first two guys. On a long hill around 13km the first guy sprinted off and I tried to chase after but couldn't close him down, wish I'd been quicker to react. I did drop the other guy at least and ran the rest alone with the leader pulling further away. Started going the wrong way at a roundabout at 18km and lost a few seconds which was annoying. I glanced over my shoulder and saw two guys just behind with about 1.8km to go so I had to work hard at the end. The last 1km is a downhill straight then on to the track so it's easy to reel someone in. Started to kick with 1km to go, held on and kept the gap the same. Overall happy with it, nice to get on the podium and feel like you're in a proper race instead of finishing 5 minutes behind some Kenyans.

Run from Getafe in a park and small hill nearby. Nice trails and enjoyable run, foot started off quite stiff after yesterday but by the end everything was feeling better. Strides were fine too. Quite windy and cool but warmer when the sun was out. Might do a 2-3km jog later to keep loosened off.

Easy jog to stretch the legs and have a look at the start/finish sections for tomorrow

Pre breakfast run before travelling to Madrid. Glad I got it done early as I arrived in Madrid later than planned. Everything fine.

Easy run in the forest, feeling okay. Foot more stiff than normal after not running last night, always seems to do that. Should be fine though.

Warm up and cool down with Andreas. Perfect day for running fast, no wind and warm but not too hot.

Road Running tempo 15:25 [5] 5.15 km (3:00 / km)

5km tempo but kept going a bit at the end. Started off feeling okay but nothing amazing then it got easier and a bit quicker with each km from 2km onwards. Finished feeling good. It was a bit quicker than planned mostly due to a slight downhill at 4km and very favourable conditions.

Moderate with speed variations in the forest. Ran with Andreas again, he was pretty quick on the faster bursts so was good. Tried to keep the effort lower the rest of the time or it'd have averaged a lot faster. Legs feeling pretty okay. Went in the sea afterwards.

Easy run in the forest. All fine and legs feeling good.

Monday Jan 23, 2017 #

Running, mostly off road 46:50 [2] 11.0 km (4:15 / km) +30m 4:12 / km

Easy run in the forest on my own. Felt very easy all the way, better than yesterday. Strides seemed reasonably quick and smooth. Did some drills and barefoot exercises on the beach directly after.
5 PM

Running, mostly off road 46:01 [2] 10.09 km (4:34 / km) +80m 4:23 / km

Easy run with Radu and the group on the hilly new loop. Marius didn't know the way so couldn't speed up luckily. Legs back to normal I'd say, very little effort and bouncier.
