8 AM

Running, mostly off road 54:13 [3] 13.03 km (4:10 / km) +210m 3:51 / km

Steady run around the forest paths from Finzean. Slightly low on energy and tired from the extra cycling efforts but running smoothly without any problems. Picked up the pace a bit at times and felt fine.

Cycling 2:10:00 [2]

Mountain bike ride to Balfour, up the long climb to the fungle path then another steep climb before going down to Finzean. About 37km/700m. Pretty good workout and perfect conditions for cycling.

Running, mostly off road 52:31 [2] 11.27 km (4:40 / km) +130m 4:24 / km

Easy run, two laps around the forest with Ginie for the first then speeding up a bit for he second. Legs feeling okay, no calf stiffness and only a bit of tiredness by the end.

Cycling 2:00:00 [2]

Mountain bike ride with friends from Finzean up the fungle path to the highest point then back. Cold clear day, great conditions except the freezing wind.

Cycling 20:00 [2]

Warm up and cool down on turbo trainer

Cycling 12:00 [5]

12 x 1’ with 1’ steady recovery. Found this really tough and managed to get the heart rate pretty high

Cycling 1:09:00 [2]
ahr:132 max:152

Steady ride to Aberdeen all on backroads through Hirn, Countesswells etc. Carrying quite a heavy bag so not super fast. Also lots of small hills.
2 PM

Running, mostly off road 52:28 [2] 11.27 km (4:39 / km) +140m 4:23 / km

Hazlehead run in the sunshine. Calf better than expected, loosened off well then felt pretty much normal. In the final few minutes I could feel the tiredness beginning to start so stopped then.

Cycling 1:31:00 [3]
ahr:138 max:150

Turbo trainer starting easy then quickly going to moderate and holding it.

Saw the physio earlier and the calf doesn’t seem serious (hopefully not like last time when I heard the same!) but since it’s a long time until the next big race there doesn’t seem to be any point in risking it. Planning to mix in some cycling and run fairly easy for few days then see how it goes.

10 AM

Running, mostly off road warm up/down 51:20 [2] 11.25 km (4:34 / km) +100m 4:22 / km

Warm up in the forest and to the river, cool down back home.

Running, mostly off road intervals 24:44 [5] 8.0 km (3:06 / km) +30m 3:02 / km

4km tempo + 4 x 1km (90s easy) on the Deeside way. Feeling okay, bit of a sore stomach and low energy but legs moving smoothly. Testing out the calf, if it flares up tomorrow I'll take it seriously. It seemed fine when running fast, felt it tighten a bit at the end of the cool down.
6 PM

Running, mostly off road 37:05 [2] 8.03 km (4:37 / km) +70m 4:26 / km

Easy run around the forest and farm track loop. Calf stiff after this morning so time to take it more seriously.

Tuesday Nov 14, 2017 #

11 AM

Running, mostly off road 1:09:51 [3] 17.65 km (3:57 / km) +150m 3:48 / km

Steady run from Aboyne to Dinnet, over to Glen Tanar then back to Aboyne. Legs feeling good at the beginning and end but calf feeling tight after the downhill section when it flattened out.
6 PM

Road Running 45:08 [2] 9.76 km (4:37 / km) +90m 4:25 / km

Easy run around Aberdeen with Dino. Everything feeling much the same.

Monday Nov 13, 2017 #

10 AM

Hill running 1:33:39 [3] 20.06 km (4:40 / km) +550m 4:06 / km

Through Brathens then up Hill of Fare and back. Fairly relaxed effort but steady on the climbs. Feeling pretty good overall. Achilles much better but calf feeling a bit tight after the descent.
5 PM

Running, mostly off road 39:59 [2] 9.04 km (4:25 / km) +100m 4:11 / km

Three easy laps around the Upper Lochton and forest loop. Noticing the calf a bit early on then it eased off.
