Sunday Jan 28 #

9 AM

Running, mostly off road warm up/down 1:02:32 [2] 12.65 km (4:57 / km) +30m 4:53 / km

Running to the course then around the park a few times. Short cool down with Steve after.
10 AM

Road Running 1:08:17 [4] 21.1 km (3:14 / km) +90m 3:10 / km

Getafe half marathon. Not a good day after getting a stomach bug the previous night and being up all night. Was similar to food poisoning I've had before but cleared quickly so by the morning I managed to eat a bit of breakfast without problems. Decided to do a long warm up then either run the race as part of a longer run or just keep running easy laps around the park and not racing. It seemed ok after the warm up although I was lacking strength. As a result I couldn't stick with the leading group and just ran around without pushing too hard. It was really windy on most of the course so tried to sit behind some guys then work my way through on the second half. Pretty disappointing not to be able to run faster, 66min at a relaxed effort would have been perfect.

Saturday Jan 27 #

8 AM

Running, mostly off road 1:05:57 [2] 14.03 km (4:42 / km) +210m 4:22 / km

Easy run with Dan down to the river then past the sanctuary and back the long way. Took it really slow on the more rough paths so Dan’s ankle didn’t flare up. Looking forward to running hard again.

Friday Jan 26 #

9 AM

Running, mostly off road 44:04 [2] 10.67 km (4:08 / km) +50m 4:02 / km

Warm up and cool down along the river path from Cieza. Really windy day.

Road Running 15:00 [5] 4.53 km (3:19 / km) +20m 3:14 / km

Alternating 1’ fast/1’ steady. Not particularly fast today with the wind and taking a while to get the legs moving.
6 PM

Running, mostly off road 30:52 [2] 6.53 km (4:44 / km) +90m 4:25 / km

Easy run around the hill with Dan. Bit of tiredness from having some easier days but felt better by the end.

Thursday Jan 25 #

10 AM

Running, mostly off road 36:58 [2] 8.08 km (4:35 / km) +50m 4:26 / km

Easy run along the fields and riverside paths with Dan. Felt like very little effort and the legs were ok.
6 PM

Running, mostly off road 44:47 [2] 10.1 km (4:26 / km) +160m 4:07 / km

Easy run on the river loop then 6 x 30s hill sprints on the campsite road. Legs fine

Wednesday Jan 24 #

8 AM

Running, mostly off road 1:23:46 [3] 21.12 km (3:58 / km) +350m 3:40 / km

Pre breakfast run, three laps around the hill. Starting easy then gradually picking it up but always at a comfortable effort. Legs feeling good today.

Tuesday Jan 23 #

9 AM

Running, mostly off road warm up/down 59:08 [2] 12.86 km (4:36 / km) +30m 4:33 / km

Easy warm up and cool down along the gravel path by the river. Nice and flat ad early enough to avoid the worst of the heat and wind.

Road Running tempo 35:16 [5] 11.35 km (3:06 / km) +20m 3:05 / km

5 mile tempo run then 2 x 1mile with Dan. Felt comfortable on the tempo, starting off not too hard then gradually speeding up with the final 4km all 3'05" or under. The mile reps were perfect to get the legs moving and felt quite fast. Distances were slightly over as I was a few seconds ahead of Dan on the tempo and reps so kept going until he finished. Would have been good to run the full 5 x 1 mile with him but probably too much with the HM at the weekend. Overall pleased with it.

Monday Jan 22 #

9 AM

Running, mostly off road 46:29 [3] 11.24 km (4:08 / km) +60m 4:02 / km

Run around some of the fields by the river. Started off with Dan then picked it up a bit for the last half. Felt quite sleepy before the run but legs not bad.
5 PM

Running, mostly off road 34:54 [2] 8.05 km (4:20 / km) +100m 4:05 / km

Easy run around the hill loop then 10 x 150m on the track. Legs feeling fine. Still hot and sunny.
