Sunday Feb 11 #

Running, mostly off road 1:37:39 [2] 22.02 km (4:26 / km) +330m 4:08 / km

Easy run around shooting greens and along the river at Blackhall. Feeling a bit tired from yesterday but getting better as I went. Clear frosty morning but good underfoot conditions.

Saturday Feb 10 #

Running, mostly off road 1:10:50 [3] 19.5 km (3:38 / km) +110m 3:32 / km

First part of the Deeside way run, Banchory to Culter. Mostly on trail. Legs feeling good but my back was really stiff when I woke up. Spent ages loosening it off before starting. Just ate a banana and two dates before running.

Road Running 33:46 [5] 10.53 km (3:12 / km)

Trying to speed up for the last part when I hit the tarmac. Felt really tough and after 3km but then it gradually improved. Slightly downhill for the last 3km as well. Only dropped 50m over the 29km from Banchory so it wasn’t cheating that much. Would have liked a drink and some energy before this section but it’s all good training without fuel.

Running, mostly off road 25:04 [2] 5.24 km (4:47 / km) +60m 4:31 / km

Easy loop around the forest. Nice to be running in daylight until 5pm here! Felt gradually better as I ran and by the end the legs felt good. Back still stiff but got better after exercises.

Friday Feb 9 #

Last run around the hill before leaving. Used the head torch for the first time in ages. Legs fine but lower back feeling stiff.

Thursday Feb 8 #

Road Running 1:27:03 [3] 23.07 km (3:46 / km) +280m 3:33 / km

Steady run on hilly roads out to a reservoir. Legs feeling better today. The entire run was in to the wind so it made it feel slower in places. Great conditions apart from the wind. Travelling back tomorrow so it’ll be an easier day.

Easy jog in the trails plus 8 x ~30s strides. Legs turning over well by the end.

Wednesday Feb 7 #

Easy run without breakfast. Fancied a longer run today to make the most of the last days here. Ran twice around the hill then explored a new trail. Legs gradually improving throughout the run.

Tuesday Feb 6 #

Warm up and cool down easy running around the rice fields then back to the apartment after the session. The wind picked up all morning so by the time I was running home it was in to a solid wind and uphill which was a bit tiring.

Road Running intervals 34:25 [5] 11.02 km (3:07 / km) +70m 3:02 / km

Short tempo run (3.3km) then 6 x 4' (2' easy). Ran with Dan on the reps, first one pretty relaxed then going a bit faster. Really windy so the splits weren't even at all. An extra day of recovery would have been better but it made sense to run with Dan and get one last solid session in before going home. Will run easier over the next days and freshen up before the weekend.

Easy evening loop with Dan. Feeling not too bad. Cold windy weather.

Monday Feb 5 #

10 AM

Running, mostly off road 1:13:46 [2] 16.29 km (4:32 / km) +180m 4:17 / km

Easy run exploring a new area by the Segura. Really nice trail next to the river through some mountains and canyons. Blue clear water filled with fish and nice pine woods. Legs not too stiff but generally feeling a bit tired and half asleep.
6 PM

Running, mostly off road 37:17 [2] 8.09 km (4:37 / km) +120m 4:17 / km

Easy run from home on the river and campsite loop. Feeling better than this morning after doing some exercises.
