11 AM

Running, mostly off road 2:17:49 [3] 32.35 km (4:16 / km) +620m 3:53 / km

Longer run around Scolty/Blackhall sticking to the smoother trails. Did a few longer climbs early on then finished coming back along the river. Expected to feel quite good but Friday's run was still in the legs. Muscles felt stiff although it didn't get much worse and was better on the flatter parts. Apart from that it seemed a very comfortable effort.

Running, mostly off road 43:43 [2] 9.48 km (4:37 / km) +140m 4:18 / km

Easy loop of Hazlehead and Countesswells. Muddy and a bit dark at the start. Glutes and lower back a bit stiff after yesterday although partly due to the early start and fewer exercises before. Easy day today anyway.

Running, mostly off road 23:52 [2] 5.28 km (4:31 / km) +40m 4:21 / km

Little leg loosener as today’s session is early afternoon. Felt a bit stiff in the lower back but exercises after the run helped.
2 PM

Road Running 16:28 [2] 3.32 km (4:58 / km) +20m 4:49 / km

Short warm up and cool down near Duthie Park and the first bit of Deeside line. Grim weather!

Road Running tempo 57:44 [4] 16.74 km (3:27 / km) +60m 3:23 / km

Progressive run with Myles on the Deeside line. Ran entirely by feel without looking at the watch, starting 4’00”/km then down to 3’30” by 6km then winding it up on the second half. The last 6km were 3’10”-3’15” which I’m really happy with. Overall I felt pretty good and didn’t notice much stiffness, legs slightly heavy and sluggish in the final 3km but it was sustainable. Normally it’s a tailwind on the way back but the easterly wind made it honest.

10 AM

Running, mostly off road 1:17:54 [3] 18.02 km (4:19 / km) +200m 4:06 / km

A few laps of Hazlehead, running the uphill parts a bit steadier. Finished with a few strides getting back to the flat road then 8 x ~200m. The range of movement I need to run fast is slowly coming back. After a few strides it starts to feel smoother and quicker.
6 PM

Running, mostly off road 29:07 [2] 6.19 km (4:42 / km) +50m 4:31 / km

Short one out and back through Maidencraig with the head torch. Very muddy underfoot and miserable weather but enjoyed getting out again.

10 AM

Running, mostly off road 1:16:14 [2] 16.6 km (4:36 / km) +250m 4:16 / km

Running back from ASV going along the river Don then through Bucksburn valley. Gradually uphill most of the day and pretty grim weather but enjoyed it. Little bit stiff after treatment but nothing too bad.
4 PM

Running, mostly off road 40:53 [2] 9.21 km (4:26 / km) +120m 4:10 / km

Head torch loop through Hazlehead and Countesswells. Dark, muddy and raining. Felt better than the morning so added in some stride type efforts mixed in to the run.

9 AM

Running, mostly off road 51:43 [2] 11.61 km (4:27 / km) +100m 4:16 / km

Easy running warm up to Kingshill and cool down back through Hazlehead to town. Legs fairly good today, muscles a but stiff towards the end.

Running, mostly off road tempo 22:56 [4] 6.47 km (3:33 / km) +120m 3:15 / km

Two laps of Kingshill at a harder effort. Started on the trail below the loop to get an extra bit of climbing. Lots of mud and puddles and windy but good effort. Nice to feel the lungs working on the climbs.
12 PM

Road Running 29:18 [2] 6.26 km (4:41 / km) +100m 4:20 / km

Easy run back home from town. Half road and half through the trails of Maidencraig.

1 PM

Running, mostly off road 1:01:33 [2] 15.09 km (4:05 / km) +70m 3:59 / km

An hour of running around a grassy field in Inverkeithing between flight and train connections. Not enough time to find somewhere to leave my bag so just did laps with some strides towards the end. Good cross country practice of running on muddy grass at a time of day I never run, hungry and with a stitch at the same time. Legs felt pretty good after yesterday and the back stiffness was the best it’s been.
6 PM

Road Running 38:39 [2] 8.01 km (4:50 / km) +120m 4:29 / km

Easy run back home from the station. Slightly uphill and heavy bag. Had my headtorch so went on trails from Rubislaw and through Maidencraig.
