Cycling 3:20:00 [2]

Longer ride out to Aboyne going through Hazlehead, Countesswells, Deeside line, Shooting greens then through Glencat and on the Fungle path. First 2 hours were fine so added in the tougher hilly section. The 3rd hour was really challenging with two fairly hard climbs and a strong wind on tiring legs. Didn't enjoy the final descent to Aboyne, should have gone the longer smoother way. Overall a good workout and more fun than going to the gym.

Foot felt a lot better than the last two days so hopefully that means its not too injured. It doesn't hurt now when walking barefoot on a hard floor but I can still notice something.

On the mountain bike to Kirkhill for a few climbs then back. Quite enjoyed being on the bike again and didn't feel too terrible.

Foot was still sore in the morning but not surprising after yesterday.

Short ride from Finzean to the end of the road at Birse and a bit further out then back again. Trying to keep up with Ginie on an E bike, very hard work on the hills but a good workout. Enjoyed it.

Longer run to test the foot and see if it needs some rest. Wasn't that bad when running but definitely feeling worse after. Could be something pretty bad so will have to see how it goes and do some non impact stuff.

Easy running around Hazlehead. Legs a bit stiff, didn't notice the foot during the run but felt it after when walking around.

More around Hazlehead and back through Maidencraig. Wore some more comfy shoes to run in and didn't notice the foot much and it wasn't worse after.

Wednesday Feb 13 #

Running, mostly off road warm up/down 49:51 [2] 10.64 km (4:41 / km) +100m 4:28 / km

Easy warm up through Hazlehead plus a few strides. Cool down back home the same way but added on some extra distance as I bumped in to Ginie on her run.

Road Running intervals 58:21 [5] 17.0 km (3:26 / km) +120m 3:19 / km

Alternating 1km fast/1km steady on the Queens road/Groats road loop. 9 faster ones in total but pace very dependant on how much uphill or downhill it had. For the 2.2km loop it was a headwind for 1.6km of it which made it quite tough. The 7th and 8th were all uphill and in to the wind so really slow which is why I finished with an extra rep of the fast part. Recoveries not as quick as I'd like but overall wasn't a bad session. Could have chosen a flatter loop that gives out nicer splits but I like the variety of this loop and it smells of fish and chips.

Easy lap of the trails from Kingswells. Legs feeling a bit tired. Also had a bit of pain under my foot where the second toe joins, was fine during the run but felt it before and after. Stupidly wore new shoes straight out the box for the morning session which seemed to cause it. Only noticed it after taking my shoes off afterwards.

Tuesday Feb 12 #

Back at home. Loop around Hazlehead and Countesswells, moving well and feeling energetic. Calf a bit stiff but probably from a combination of too much tarmac recently and missing some days of foam rolling and strength training with the illness. Still coughing a bit but not as bad as last week.

Running, mostly off road 37:20 [2] 8.37 km (4:28 / km) +60m 4:18 / km

Easy loop through Hazlehead and back through Maidencraig then strides on the road. Legs moving pretty well again.

Monday Feb 11 #

Road Running 1:10:49 [2] 14.2 km (4:59 / km) +260m 4:34 / km

Easy run across Barcelona to Montjuic and back. Some nice trails on the hilltop but the rest was on the streets. Tired from yesterday but nothing too stiff. Walked a lot yesterday afternoon so over 50km done in total.
