9 AM

Road Running 1:03:40 [2] 14.52 km (4:23 / km) +220m 4:05 / km

From Sedbergh on some rolling country back roads as part of a warm up/cool down. Lots of surface water streaming over the road and deep puddles in places. Found a short section for a little session though. Felt quite tired to start with but better after 20min or so and had plenty left in the legs on the cool down.

Road Running intervals 30:00 [5] 8.69 km (3:27 / km) +130m 3:13 / km

10 x 2’ (1’ easy) out and back on a section of undulating road with some puddles and debris to dodge. Happy with how it went, wasn’t meant to be anything special but it got the legs moving. Windy going one way and a few slight climbs in both directions.

8 AM

Running, mostly off road 1:45:35 [2] 20.44 km (5:10 / km) +570m 4:32 / km

Hilly pre breakfast run over Brimmond hill four or five times. Timed it well to avoid the snow. Feeling better than yesterday and enjoyed the dry trails. Good to get the legs working a bit on some climbs. Noticed the foot at times on rockier sections but it didn’t feel any worse after so hopefully it’ll improve tomorrow.

Friday Mar 15 #

10 AM

Running, mostly off road 55:44 [2] 12.01 km (4:38 / km) +120m 4:25 / km

Easy run on the trails around Kingswells/Sheddocksley. Strong winds and stiff legs so pretty slow going at times. Felt better by the end though.
5 PM

Running, mostly off road 30:03 [2] 6.55 km (4:35 / km) +60m 4:23 / km

Short easy run through Hazlehead. Slightly less stiff than the morning. One foot feeling a bit worse since yesterday. Been running in wide fitting shoes since Monday which has helped but I didn’t use them for the run yesterday as they’re not great for running fast.

Thursday Mar 14 #

10 AM

Running, mostly off road 1:24:36 [3] 21.64 km (3:55 / km) +260m 3:41 / km

Steady loops of Hazlehead and Countesswells then down to the Deeside line. Windy day but dry and sunny. Legs feeling fairly good but a bit battered after some long downhills with a tailwind.

Road Running tempo 38:50 [5] 12.0 km (3:14 / km) +30m 3:12 / km

Tempo effort on the Deeside line, 2km going up the valley then the rest down to Duthie Park and a lap around there to finish. Slightly tired legs to start but got in to the rhythm quickly and ticked off the distance comfortably. Wind was north westerly so helped a bit toward the end but wasn’t much use in the other parts. Only the final 1km was tough with a few obstacles then headwind which broke my nice rhythm.

Road Running warm up/down 16:35 [2] 3.62 km (4:35 / km) +40m 4:20 / km

Cool down back up to Queen’s road. So hard for the first 2km, felt like I was walking. Started to feel better and run smoother after that but caught a bus home rather than making it a full marathon.

Wednesday Mar 13 #

10 AM

Running, mostly off road 1:05:19 [3] 17.01 km (3:50 / km) +190m 3:38 / km

Two and a bit laps of Hazlehead with some short efforts and steady sections mixed in. Had to hoped to run somewhere different but it was the best place to shelter from the wind and still get some faster running in. Getting back to full leg function so hopefully will manage a long one tomorrow.
1 PM

Cycling 1:10:00 [2]

Out to Dunecht school and back. Strong headwind all the way there which made it tough, way back was easier but definitely more uphill.

Tuesday Mar 12 #

8 AM

Running, mostly off road 1:19:33 [2] 17.75 km (4:29 / km) +250m 4:11 / km

Easy run around Hazlehead and Countesswells. Legs feeling much better today, only slightly stiff at times. Pretty soggy underfoot but not too bad.
12 PM

Cycling 35:00 [2]

Ride to town and back, uphill and headwind all the way home.
6 PM

Road Running 25:50 [2] 6.03 km (4:17 / km) +60m 4:05 / km

Short run around the Lang Stracht/Maidencraig loop. Windy night but otherwise all good.

Monday Mar 11 #

11 AM

Running, mostly off road 49:05 [2] 10.51 km (4:40 / km) +110m 4:26 / km

Easy run around Hazlehead. Stiff legs after yesterday but loosening off a bit as I ran. Feet didn't feel any worse so hopefully that's a sign they're on the mend.
