Sunday Mar 31 #

Running, mostly off road 2:32:08 [3] 36.03 km (4:13 / km) +430m 3:59 / km

Long run pre breakfast, loops of Countesswells then through Hazlehead on to the Deeside line then back up Hillhead road to Countesswells again then home. Nice morning but wore thermal tights and long sleeves which were unnecessary in the sunshine. Also carried water and emergency food so felt a bit weighed down. Happy with how it went, bit of a struggle at 18-24km but then felt good on the final bit without eating anything. Didn’t want to push the pace too much as I’m still not fully recovered from the sessions this week. Happy with how the last two weeks have been.

Easy run starting with a loop around Crathes then linking up the Banchory trails to get to the athletics track. Started off pretty tired and stiff after yesterday and from not being able to do my normal exercises but improved through the run.

Running, mostly off road 28:49 [2] 6.5 km (4:26 / km) +60m 4:14 / km

Easy out and back run from Finzean. Feeling better than the morning and finishing off with a bit more bounce in the legs.

Friday Mar 29 #

Road Running warm up/down 34:04 [2] 7.85 km (4:20 / km) +50m 4:12 / km

Warm up out to Westhill. Cool down on the old Lang Stracht/Skene road loop. Feeling really tired on the last few km.

Road Running tempo 1:02:02 [5] 19.24 km (3:13 / km) +140m 3:07 / km

Four laps of the Westhill loop then back home on the cycle path. Was fairly windy today so I’d probably have been better on the Deeside line. Found the first two laps difficult to judge as the wind made it totally different to normal and slower in a lot of places. I switched directions to see if it was easier one way but both ways were tough! The 3rd and 4th laps got slightly better (although I was working hard) then I finished with a faster flatter 2km with a bit of tailwind as a final blast to get the legs turning over. Had some water after each lap to get used to taking it. Really happy with the run, went from considering stopping early on to finishing strongly.

Easy run around Hazlehead and Countesswells then down Maidencraig to Rubislaw. Nice warm day but stiff legs, was improving in the second half.

Wednesday Mar 27 #

Road Running warm up/down 33:40 [2] 8.16 km (4:08 / km) +30m 4:03 / km

Warm up out to be Westhill loop. Back the same way. Moderately windy from the west but compared to recent days not that bad.

Road Running intervals 32:00 [5] 9.9 km (3:14 / km) +70m 3:07 / km

16 x 1’ (1’ steady) on the loop. Pretty good session I think, definitely moving a bit quicker for a change. Paces varied depending on the wind and hills but the effort was around 5/10k. Happy with it.
4 PM

Running, mostly off road 38:33 [2] 8.03 km (4:48 / km) +110m 4:30 / km

Easy run after physio session over to Westfield park to meet Dino. Mostly on grass and trails through the fields and along the river. More hilly than I thought and a nice run.

Tuesday Mar 26 #

Running, mostly off road 1:10:20 [2] 16.37 km (4:18 / km) +230m 4:01 / km

Similar route to yesterday but extended. Much better legs and moving more smoothly once everything loosened off a few minutes in. Managed a few slow strides towards the end. Still more tired than normal but hopefully will be better tomorrow.

Easy Bucksburn valley loop from home. Feeling progressively better throughout.

Monday Mar 25 #

Running, mostly off road 56:09 [2] 12.05 km (4:40 / km) +140m 4:24 / km

Easy run through Hazlehead and around Countesswells then home. Tired and stiff legs from yesterday so going really slow. The steep downhills with a tailwind probably caused it. Foot wasn’t as bad as I expected, noticed it a bit in bare feet but fine during the run.
