Hill running 2:12:52 [3] 25.55 km (5:12 / km) +950m 4:23 / km

Glen Tanar up to Gannoch hill with a detour over Baudy Meg and another uphill path. Nice run but a few not so nice sections of path. Noticing the stiffness more today but hopefully the exercises will help. Felt fine on anything uphill or straight downhill but just stiff on any sudden changes of gradient. Another encounter with the aggressive capercaille but luckily it didn't block the route this time.

Saturday May 11 #

Easy loop of Hazlehead and Countesswells with Ginie. Less stiffness than the last few days. Started more structured strength/core stuff again this week so hopefully it’ll help sort out the weaknesses.

Hill running 21:30 [4] 4.07 km (5:17 / km) +450m 3:24 / km

Uphill tempo on Peter hill. Good test to see where the legs are at. It felt pretty tough but lots of fun.

Really short warm up and easy running back down the hill. Expected the usual hip flexor/lower ab/hip stiffness but it was fine.

Friday May 10 #

Easy running through Hazlehead down to the edge of town and back. Stiff abs and lower back at times.

Thursday May 9 #

Hill running 1:04:38 [3] 13.6 km (4:45 / km) +430m 4:06 / km

Over to Brimmond then a few steadier uphills. Nothing too hard but just enough to get the breathing going a bit.

Running, mostly off road 43:29 [2] 8.01 km (5:26 / km) +150m 4:58 / km

Easy run with Ginie back up Brimmond. Nice night but chilly. Lower back and hips pretty stiff.

Wednesday May 8 #

Easy loop on the Bucksburn valley trails from home. Energy levels good but still a bit stiff in places.

Road Running 42:56 [2] 9.5 km (4:31 / km) +150m 4:11 / km

Back home from ASV after physio. Uphill all the way but a decent tailwind made it a lot easier. Generally feeling alright, got a few things to work on to ease off the lower back/hips etc.

Tuesday May 7 #

Easy run to Countesswells then around some of the more hilly single tracks. Nice to be going over some slightly more technical terrain again. Most of the quad DOMS gone but I did feel a bit stiff towards the end. The exercises I've been doing have felt a lot better the last few days but there are some weaker areas I need to work on.

Monday May 6 #

Easy loop of Hazlehead plus a bit extra. Stiff quads at the start (still from Saturday) then not too bad after that. Definitely more bounce in the legs without having to put more effort in.
