Running, mostly off road 1:01:36 [2] 14.02 km (4:24 / km) +140m 4:11 / km

Easy run from Aviemore in to part of Rothiemurchus and back. Nice trail but not enough time to go further. Hip feeling not too bad after yesterday.
10 AM

Road Running 19:00 [2] 4.0 km (4:45 / km) +50m 4:28 / km

A few running and drills sessions on the coaching course. Didn’t count the exact distance but it was probably closer to 6-8km. Took all of the running fairly easy apart from the hill sprints.

Easy run from Finzean to loosen off after the long day. Feeling good by the end but just tired.

Hill running 2:36:13 [3] 30.62 km (5:06 / km) +1030m 4:22 / km

Spent yesterday evening and this morning doing some stretches to target the hip flexor and it seemed to help. Hip was a bit tender in places but no longer restricted and catching with every stride.

Started at the bottom of Scolty and planned to turn back if it tightened up but it was pretty much okay. Kept lots of up and downhills in as the change in gradient seemed to stretch it quite well. Didn’t take anything to drink and was really thirsty by the end with it being slightly warmer and humid.

Friday May 31 #

Running, mostly off road 46:01 [2] 10.01 km (4:36 / km) +100m 4:23 / km

Loop on the Deeside line and back through Crathes. Hip starting to tighten up after 4/5km. Lower back felt a bit out of line as well and overall it wasn’t a good run. Had planned to take a easy day anyway. Yesterday was probably too much tarmac and I’m not sure if running the warm up and evening run with the rucksack did something to my back.

Thursday May 30 #

Road Running warm up/down 36:43 [2] 8.25 km (4:27 / km) +30m 4:22 / km

From Rubislaw to ASV and then to the beach. Hip slightly stiff at the start but eased off.

Road Running intervals 40:16 [5] 12.02 km (3:21 / km) +20m 3:19 / km

Session on the roads at and around the beach area. Bit of a random one starting with 2 x 10’ then finishing with some shorter efforts. The wind made running in one direction really tough going and slow so paces all over the place. Happy with how the legs felt though.

Road Running 41:41 [2] 9.01 km (4:38 / km) +130m 4:19 / km

Easy run from ASV to Kingswells with a small backpack. Noticing the hip again but it eased off on the way.

Wednesday May 29 #

10 AM

Easy loop around Corsee and Brathens. Bit of quad stiffness after yesterday but otherwise all good. More mud around.

Running, mostly off road 40:14 [2] 9.01 km (4:28 / km) +90m 4:15 / km

Deeside line and Crathes loop easy effort and a few strides. All good.

Tuesday May 28 #

9 AM

Running, mostly off road 1:07:57 [2] 13.88 km (4:54 / km) +170m 4:37 / km

Easy running to the bottom of Scolty and back plus some easy running between uphill efforts. Feeling fine straight from the door.

Hill running intervals 27:33 [5] 4.48 km (6:09 / km) +570m 3:46 / km

Five Scolty reps up different paths each time. Some steeper and less smooth and others a bit less steep and smoother. First rep or two felt tough then got more used to it. Happy with the session. Paths fairly muddy in places but fine.
5 PM

Road Running 30:44 [2] 6.71 km (4:35 / km) +90m 4:18 / km

Easy across Aberdeen from ASV to Rubislaw with a small bag. Fine once warmed up but needed to do more stretching and mobility first.

Monday May 27 #

10 AM

Running, mostly off road 59:29 [2] 13.45 km (4:25 / km) +180m 4:09 / km

Easy loop on the Deeside line and back through Crathes with some bits on the trails around the estate. Bit tired from the weekend but legs fine. Lots of mud and puddles around.
6 PM

Running, mostly off road 28:51 [2] 6.42 km (4:30 / km) +60m 4:18 / km

Short loop around the paths and parks in the town. Fresher than this morning.
