Road Running warm up/down 25:24 [2] 5.09 km (4:59 / km) +100m 4:33 / km

Warm up and strides in Bettmeralp. Took a while to get going at the altitude but everything fine by the race start.
10 AM

Hill running 1:35:05 [5] 20.48 km (4:39 / km) +1130m 3:38 / km

Aletsch half marathon. Happy with the run and how everything was feeling. One guy started quite fast but once on the first climb I went in to the lead then got in a good rhythm and enjoyed it. Probably held back at some points with the Euro champs in mind. Finished feeling quite fresh and able to run the final climb.

Easy around Moubra and the forest trails. Progress from yesterday’s tired legs but my back is still a bit stiff. Feeling fresher than any time recently though.

Road Running 32:25 [2] 7.5 km (4:19 / km) +120m 4:00 / km

Easy run around the town loop plus strides. Finally getting the legs moving a bit better.

Easy run on the trails around Moubra. Tired legs today.

Thursday Jun 20 #

Running, mostly off road warm up/down 50:23 [2] 10.57 km (4:46 / km) +200m 4:21 / km

Warm up down to lake Moubra and around the forest. Cool down basically the same but with the 3km climb home. Felt tired and low on energy at the end.

Running, mostly off road intervals 39:51 [5] 11.45 km (3:29 / km) +110m 3:19 / km

7 x laps of the lake with 80-90s jog recovery. Did a full lap on the trail then finished each rep with 150m along the dam. Nice little loop with one or two short hills each time. The early rain meant it was quiet otherwise it’d be too busy with walkers for a session. Happy with how it went, decent amount of hard running without smashing the legs too much.

Easy loop of the single trails above the town. Legs tired from this morning but they eased off a bit.

Easy run around the lake and forest. Walked down the hill to start the run and it felt way better for the legs. Was tired at first but got better through the run.

Easy run around the upper lake and town loop plus strides. Also starting and finishing from the town. Legs starting to feel better quite quickly.

Tuesday Jun 18 #

Bit of running on the cycle road in Sierre then some strides with jogging between. Good to get the legs turning over, will try to do some more regular flatter running and strides in the next weeks.

Hill running 1:38:10 [4] 12.7 km (7:44 / km) +2010m 4:19 / km

Long climb with the first 1000m from Sierre at a fairly hard effort then more of a steady effort from Montana to Bella Lui. It was roasting hot in Sierre and going up the south facing vineyards so the actual performance wasn’t great although the effort was hard. Carried 200ml of water and left a 250ml bottle on the route near my apartment but it was less than half of what I needed. Last 1km was a struggle but it was too close to give up by then.

Easy running down from Bella Lui on the flattest paths possible and the extra bit down to the funicular. First 2km my legs were really wobbly but after a juice at the restaurant things got gradually better. Actually felt good by the end.

Easy running around the lakes and forest. Bit tired from yesterday but legs feeling fine. Quite a warm day so good to be out in it.
