11 AM

Running, mostly off road 2:30:43 [3] 37.08 km (4:04 / km) +570m 3:46 / km

Long loop through shooting greens, Potarch then back through Glassel and Corsee woods. Ginie was on the mountain bike with some drinks. Perfect dry cool day with no wind. Felt really fresh and bouncy after yesterday's easy day and although I thought I may feel the hamstring on a longer run it was never an issue. Lower back a bit stiff but not worse than an average long run. Will see how the aches and pains go after today but either way I'll be easing back with hopefully another race in two weeks and/or a bit of a break.

Running, mostly off road 1:00:06 [2] 14.27 km (4:13 / km) +160m 3:59 / km

Easy Crathes loop. Hamstring more or less fine but could notice lower back stiffness and a few other tight spots.

Hill running 1:55:16 [3] 22.23 km (5:11 / km) +900m 4:19 / km

Scolty and Goauch hill with Hamish. Effort was fairly solid on the climbs. I wore loads of layers as it was freezing but then ended up sweating loads when the sun came out.

Left hamstring/adductor area felt a bit weird on Thursday morning but has been fine on all the runs. It feels quite tender on the muscle and if I try to put weight through just that part but when doing other exercises or running it's not been bad. Think I tweaked something doing strides or drills on Wednesday night.
5 PM

Cycling 45:00 [1]

Easy mountain bike ride with Ginie. Done a fair bit of biking around this week, might be factor with the hamstring as well. Couldn't tell whether it felt better or worse after.

Running, mostly off road 34:56 [2] 7.98 km (4:23 / km) +60m 4:13 / km

Warm up on the Deeside way and park. Back the same way.

Running, mostly off road tempo 43:44 [4] 13.1 km (3:20 / km) +90m 3:14 / km

Starting on the Blackhall road and along the river track to the end then back to the closed gate. Legs didn't have much bounce and the effort felt harder than it should have so I kept it comfortable and just increased it over the final 2km. Cold day and the gravel tracks were so dry that it was almost less grippy to run on.
6 PM

Running, mostly off road 39:39 [2] 8.02 km (4:57 / km) +80m 4:43 / km

Easy run around Drumshalloch and Loch of Leys with the Nova blaster. Ideal running from the garden without needing the dog on the lead to start. Some trails overgrown and others nicely worn in. Every time I go to Drumshalloch there are more paths.

Running, mostly off road 1:04:29 [2] 14.7 km (4:23 / km) +170m 4:09 / km

Corsee woods and short Brathens loop then to the allotment and home. Feeling a lot smoother than yesterday and mostly recovered.
5 PM

Running, mostly off road 40:25 [2] 9.12 km (4:26 / km) +40m 4:20 / km

Easy run in town, 2km on the Deeside line then across Duthie Park and some loops on the grass on the south side of the river. Lots of good grassy paths there and empty compared to the park. Did a few strides after.

Running, mostly off road 1:00:21 [2] 13.52 km (4:28 / km) +150m 4:14 / km

Easy Deeside line and Crathes loop. Stiff legs today but actually not bad once warmed up. Need a few easier days.

Hill running 3:38:49 [3] 37.41 km (5:51 / km) +1730m 4:45 / km

Long run from Dunblane going over Blairdennon hill, Ben Buck, Ben Cluech then dropping down to get another tough climb up The Law before going back to Dunblane. Had the route in the watch which was a life saver in the low cloud and fog early on. Only annoying bit was crossing a rough boggy section to cross between two paths (looked easy when plotting the route!). Didn't realise how long and tough the run was so I was much longer than expected and had 8 minutes to get packed, showered, and checked out of the hotel.
