Hill running 3:38:02 [3] 36.72 km (5:56 / km) +1700m 4:49 / km

Beinn A'Ghlo peaks with Seb, think we added an extra top in as well. Made into a longer run by starting from Blair Atholl and descending off a nice long ridge to Glen Tilt from the final peak. Enjoyable running most of the way, good effort on the climbs and the descents were mostly straight forward. Only bad bit was the long run back down Glen Tilt to the finish, assumed it was 6-8km but it was nearer 15km! There was a film set in the glen with an endless stream of lorries and stuff driving up there until we got on the single trails. Felt tired near the end, didn't get to refill my bottle for a long time so was a few gels behind where I'd want to be and more thirsty.

Easy run from Tummel Bridge caravan site. Mix of forest tracks and road. Tired at the start but moving better on the way back.

Running, mostly off road 26:53 [2] 5.5 km (4:53 / km) +100m 4:29 / km

Easy run along the river and lochside trails to Pitlochry from the fishing. Plenty of nice bits but very busy. Carrying a bag with fishing gear, clothes and lunch so slightly weighed down.

Friday May 21 #

Warm up loop and strides plus cool down.

Road Running intervals 42:00 [4] 12.08 km (3:29 / km) +90m 3:21 / km

12 x 2' (90s float) on various roads trying to avoid the worst of the weather. Running in waterproof jacket and trousers which kept the muscles from getting too cold but meant blowing around like a binbag in the wind. Consistently slow splits but at least it felt slow and wasn't hard aerobically. First flatter session in a while since the knee issue so a step in the right direction.

Scolty and Hill of Goauch with the dog. Wet and muddy, slow going and messy. Quads tired from the gym so not as bouncy on the climbs as recently.

Wednesday May 19 #

Riverside and shooting greens short loop. Legs a little heavy at the start then moving well after that. Definitely a bit of DOMS from yesterday setting in.

ASV gym. Usual stuff and bringing in lunges (5kg bar) for the first time since the knee injury.

Along Aberdeen beach, up the Don path and to Westfield. Mix of road and paths. Feeling better than the morning but a bit tired after the gym.

Tuesday May 18 #

Running, mostly off road warm up/down 15:20 [2] 3.47 km (4:25 / km) +20m 4:18 / km

Shortish warm up and a few strides in the park. Could see the black clouds moving in so got going quickly.

Hill running tempo 27:14 [5] 7.39 km (3:41 / km) +260m 3:08 / km

Scolty challenge run from the outdoor shop up the steep way and down the back of the hill. Finally able to give it a go with the knee feeling back to normal. Struggled to set off really fast on the road after little fast running recently but managed to work the main climb quite hard. Was going to ease off on the descent but it felt quite good so I didn't hold back. Happy with the run. Could definitely run the flat bits a bit quicker but overall it felt like a good hard run.

Longer cool down through Corsee. Absolutely soaked straight away. Luckily avoided that rain on the Scolty descent.

Crathes single trails with the dog. Absolutely pouring rain, paths covered and hard to see properly with the rain in my eyes. Legs not too bad though.

Monday May 17 #

Easy flat one on the Deeside line and through Crathes. Tired at the start then legs easing off nicely. Knee much better than a few days ago, even managed some gentle strides.
