Sunday May 19 #

8 AM

Hill running 1:32:21 [3] 15.62 km (5:55 / km) +1030m 4:27 / km

Skiddaw loop going up the steep side from Millbeck then down the main path over little man. Ran the climb with a bit of effort to see how the body responded and check if racing next weekend is realistic. It was ok, the legs didn’t feel that fresh after being out all Saturday on my feet in the sun but there weren’t any headaches or fatigue like last weekend. Warm conditions and no breeze until at the top. The downhill felt fine too.

Saturday May 18 #

9 AM

Running, mostly off road 1:08:49 [2] 15.03 km (4:35 / km) +180m 4:19 / km

Easy lap of the lake with a few strides mixed in on the flat sections through the run. Another day of feeling normal or even better than normal. Warm sunny day and everything good.
5 PM

Running, mostly off road 30:24 [2] 6.21 km (4:54 / km) +60m 4:40 / km

Easy trails by the lake. Feet stiff from standing around for a while but then felt a lot better after a km, just took it really easy. Warm evening.

Friday May 17 #

8 AM

Hill running 1:46:29 [2] 18.62 km (5:43 / km) +1130m 4:23 / km

Hilly run over Latrigg and Skiddaw then down the longer way. Everything feeling really good and fresh. Took a gel near the top of the main climb and it helped keep things strong to the end. Happy with it.

Thursday May 16 #

10 AM

Running, mostly off road 58:53 [2] 12.19 km (4:50 / km) +190m 4:29 / km

Easy loop in the woods by the coast. Slightly better energy levels than the previous morning run but not that great. Did four strides at the end and they were good but felt a bit low energy after and tired. Legs moving well though.
5 PM

Running, mostly off road 41:41 [2] 8.33 km (5:00 / km) +370m 4:06 / km

Up to Walla Crag and down. Completely different legs to what I’ve had recently, was fresh and feeling strong. Better than normal even.

Wednesday May 15 #

10 AM

Running, mostly off road 1:00:11 [2] 12.41 km (4:51 / km) +150m 4:34 / km

Easy out and back on the coast path. Tired at the start and heavy legs, was going to turn back but then started feeling better. By the end it was ok but didn’t want to risk strides. Felt a lot better in the hours after the run than the last days.
5 PM

Running, mostly off road 31:00 [2] 6.13 km (5:03 / km) +140m 4:32 / km

Easy loop of the Binns testing out some new shoes. Way more energy than the morning, helped eating something directly before the run. Once warmed up I felt way more like usual and the legs were responding ok. Got a thistle spike stuck in my toe, left the watch timer running for a few mins as I took off my sock to remove it so made the data look like a much slower run.

Tuesday May 14 #

10 AM

Hill running 1:32:51 [2] 15.02 km (6:11 / km) +980m 4:40 / km

Easy from Bridge of Allan to Menstrie over Dumyat and back. Tired at the start and feeling slower than usual. Got gradually better and the second climb felt more like normal. Downhills were ok too, it was wetter underfoot but had just enough grip.

Monday May 13 #

10 AM

Hill running 1:31:36 [2] 14.09 km (6:30 / km) +950m 4:52 / km

A few easy climbs of Arthurs seat after physio. Not too bad a run, was fine climbing at an easy effort and the downhills felt good. Potentially running better than Saturday but not wanting to push it to check. Still tiredness lingering generally but not much in the run. Tired and hungry after for the rest of the day.
