up the hill to the start- quite a long one this time!

Orienteering race 1:46:00 [4] 12.9 km (8:13 / km) +500m 6:53 / km

Best Orienteering I have done since stockholm- really felt swedish, and not in a good way.

1 and 2 were ok- i was a bit hesitant coming in to 2 and a bit low into 1 but overall it gave me confidence into 3- which was entirely unwarrented. caught up Jack at 3, mustve spent a while there already, and spent a while looking too far both across and down for an absolute pig of a crag. got it before Jack and told him where it was, and lost him on the way to 4, with yet another unwanted tour of the mountain. followed Rich Barrett to #5, contouring round, quite a good route and was ahead of jack- but Ali and Tim appeared out of the blue and caught me at the start of the long leg.

made a complete fool of myself on the long leg, took 20 minutes! followed barrett onto the wall contouring round rather than following the EUOC Trio running right up the hill, really shouldve thought about it and taken the path down the bottom. not only did i ruin my ankles i ended up on the steep scree slope and ran all the way round the bottom, across the valleys and back up the hill- a mess. punched with Sasha, so i figured i was now solid last on the course, tried to keep with him but he ran past #8 without me noticing and i overshot it and had to come back, which was bloody annoying.

on the long leg to 9 i figured i would just try to enjoy myself for the rest of it, cos i was just too far behind. it wasnt hard because genuinely the area was one of my absolute favourites.

couldve done with an energy gel on the last loop, but i survived. #20 up the hill was a right trial tbh, i lost concentration and felt low.

overall, not the best run, but I enjoyed myself so sue me. energy gels are going to be a must have next year.
