Easy Run 1:11:47 [2] 9.2 mi (7:48 / mi) +63m 7:38 / mi
slept:7.0

Easy run with speed variations on a flat section. Easy felt a bit lethargic. I was rushing to fit this in so probably not focused. Once I did the speed variations I started to feel better and they felt smooth.

Tempo Run 38:59 [4] 6.0 mi (6:30 / mi) +41m 6:22 / mi
slept:6.0

Couldn’t make club so ran this after work. Warm up then 6 miles at tempo on relatively flat road. Felt like a tempo, as in it pace was a bit easier to start, then some work then last 1.5 miles (roughly), felt harder - 4 in terms of effort. Legs felt good, determination felt good and helped mindset ahead of Saturday.

Progressive run road. Started gradually and built into it. Legs still feeling tired (quads mostly) from the weekend, but breathing etc felt good. Felt tired at the end, but strong through the 2nd half.

Easy Run 42:51 [2] 5.4 mi (7:56 / mi) +51m 7:43 / mi
slept:7.0

Easy run with company, strides during second half. Outside of quads feeling a bit tight and tired from the hilly weekend. Nothing to worry about, just not used to those steep ups and downs! This started very slow then got a bit faster naturally. Strides felt good, legs felt better through them.

Run-Hike 3:31:12 [2] **** 13.58 mi (15:33 / mi) +2120m 10:28 / mi
slept:8.0

Second day of Recce. My intention was that if we had enough experienced helpers that I’d go to start then run back to Newcastle on the road. Had a couple of helpers and weather was due to by misty and wet. So I joined in. Didn’t feel too bad after yesterday! Easy enough effort but could have push on. The last 5k of technical downhill I worked harder to catch a group in front. Then at the end I ran a loop of Newcastle town centre on the road. Legs felt tired but responded really really well. My determination was also very good.
