Baddinsgill Round Race

Decided last minute to enter this as it would be good practice for skyline and the weather was looking nice. Started off good running with a group of woman and feeling like the pace was pretty easy on the climbs. Didn’t push on though as was fully aware I’d hardly ever ran 16km let alone raced it. The good feeling did not last long. Around checkpoint 4 (4/10) legs gave up. Just absolute 0 energy. Even walking they felt wobbly. I watched as I was overtaken and fell quickly to near the back. Was greatly considering dropping out at check point 6 (half way) but took a gel and after a bit of a break after getting lost off check point 5 decided to keep going. Slog up the hill to 7 but then the gel kicked in and I actually enjoyed the gradual down from 7 and caught up with a lady and man who were some nice company. Last climb to 8 finally found my legs again and pushed on doing some more overtaking. Ended up 4th woman so not too bad. Think my legs were deep down ruined from the Munro and hill race earlier in the week but very pleased I finished the race. It was a really nice route and the weather was lovely, abit too hot but nice views. Could of done with another gel and abit more water but surprised at how quickly it felt.

Beinn Sguiallard with Laura. Up Glen Ure then tricky scramble up some rocks onto the ridge. Not too bad up the ridge then another rock scramble to the top. Amazzzinnggg views and a very nice run along the ridge. Found a path down the other side so bit more runable. Legs hurting near the bottom of the hill. Then a big slog back down the main road. Thighs, calves, knees, shins, back everything in agony. Had to walk sections. But worth it for the views and the hill.
