The first middle distance of NAOM 2016, held in Castelo de Vide.

A bit more rocky and hilly terrain compare to the standard around here, but it made this middle course quite challenging, especially under pouring rain. I was mainly trying to stay on my feet, and concentrated on the technique as the speed was quite reduced in the steepest part anyway.

Results

Overall, I had a nice performance. Only in two places, I wasn´t pleased with my choices. To the 4th control, the option closer to the top was probably a bit faster and my choice was maybe too risky, too much about trusting the 80+ runners which had an earlier start. Not my favourite type of leg – a lot about luck. To the 23rd, I was concentrating on catching the runners in front and went on a (small) parallel mistake right after the control. Not a high cost in time anyway.

Tomorrow is another middle distance in about the same terrain, the rain won´t probably stop, but the fun keeps going.
