Running 1:45:00 [1] 18.0 km (5:50 / km)
slept:9.0 shoes: VJ Sarva 2016

Easy run in Floranas naturreservat, with a Karttapullautin map - not much details missing as always. 12°C and very quiet there, probably everyone was in the shopping mall.

Last run in Sweden for a long while, France and Spain next in the program!

Alunda´s diamonds.

Drove toward east to visit a new terrain around Alunda. Pretty nice and fast forest there. We ran two diamonds at competition speed and got twice kicked by Albin. Should sharpen my game.

Only few people this morning, but the very best ones! Sauna afterward – luxury! And my gingerbread was probably my best performance of the day...

Found back the sun btw...

Night Orienteering 1:05:00 [1] **** 9.0 km (7:13 / km)
32c shoes: VJ Sarva 2016

The plan for tonight was to collect back my jacket I had let under a tree during one of UTH trainings two weeks ago, being too busy to keep up with the fast Daniel Rönnqvist, 16 year´s old…

As Albin joined the fun, we went for a night forked corridor, followed by a micro-sprint. Altogether, it made a quite close-from-perfect evening, and, on top of that, my jacket is almost dry…

- 5 strict pull-ups

Time: 7´28´´

+ 5 uphill sprints of 20´´ at Uppsala slott.

Trying my best to keep some IIb muscle fibers alive for O´ringen sprint…

Fredagsmys in Hammarskog.

Another warm evening. Some part of the forest were pure pleasure (loop C & D) . I was also really happy about my navigation... until the last interval, the one I had put the controls in during warm-up… Classic but still irritating.

With 3 controls to go, at 17th, momentum crashes…

Night corridor in Lunsen.

Got interested by Albin´s corridor and gave it a try tonight. A full effort of concentration from start to finish – tiring but fun.

“I’m back to being the little kid who once said anything is possible,” says Phelps. “You’re going to see a different me than you saw in any of the other Olympics.”

Had a slow start this morning, as I started reading the long Sports illustrated reportage on Olympic legend Michael Phelps. Some really good parts.

“Sometimes you look back on your career and say, ‘Did I ever swim my best race? Did I ever really maximize myself?’ I saw Michael last summer in Los Angeles and he looked like he was in fantastic shape.’’

An old Halden Sk´s TTT in Iddefjordfjella.

Pleased that Eva gave me the possibility to run this training in one of the fastest terrain around Halden, before traveling back to Uppsala. Nice for tired legs and also quite rewarding that the speed and navigation are still pretty decent.

Short O-intervals. I rested one minute between each interval.

Icy and slippery, but still snow free!

The nature is always good at making art
5 PM

Running 50:00 [2] 10.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: VJ Irock

Night Orienteering 31:50 [3] ** 6.6 km (4:49 / km)

Driving home from Halden is always quite long and boring.

Spiced it this time with a quick stop in Vasterås, and fulfilled one of my old project of re-running WOC races from 2004. Well, the highlight will be for later on with the middle distance final. Started with the sprint races – qualification and final in Rocklunda. Night and not a full effort, but fun anyway. Quite different from nowaday´s sprints…

A new fence after the 3rd control. And some snow cannons (wtf) between 6th and 7th. Otherwise, map about the same. With that run, I would have been 31st of my heat : (

In final, I would have been 43rd, but only a few seconds behind Antti. Not the race of his life… ; )

Possibly the best cover picture of O-sport, for one of the greatest achievement ever. Full article if you click on the picture

Seems like the Swedes are quite eager about having snow now…
